Artificial Intelligence will be releasing their next album with Metalheadz and it’s their most accomplished work to date. A mature, confident long player that when listening you can’t help but feel is ‘potential achieved’ and a genuine pleasure to be releasing via the label.
The aesthetic of the album harks back to early AI material. It’s full of soul but has darker moments amongst its beauty. The palette of the project draws on classic era Jungle and goes as far back as Chicago house but in its entirety it’s much more than that; they are just some of the influences to be found on an expansive album that ticks many boxes.
Collaborations on the album come from SCAR and newcomer Dawn Wall whilst vocals are taken care of by DRS, Terri Walker, Steo and MC Sense.

Lenzman is back on Metalheadz with his first original work since his debut album Looking At The Stars. The EP is everything you would expect from Lenzman; soulful and well produced with a firm eye on the dancefloor. The release features regular collaborators Steo, Dan Stezo and newcomer producer Forren. That’s right! DJ Marky has given “Silly” the VIP treatment with a tub-thumping amen break complimenting the smooth and soulful flow that only the Brazilian maestro can deliver. Friction has already aired the track on his BBC Radio 1 show and considering the damage the original version did, things are looking hot for this VIP remix.

The flip side is another liquid roller in the shape of “Ready 2 Go” that is jam-packed full of the summer flavour Innerground has become renowned for.

The digital package comes with an extra flourish as Nytron Power turns his attention to another hit from the ‘My Heroes” longplayer, “Bella Drix”. Nytron’s many influences around Techno, Nu-Disco, House and Electro are all present here, with an ebb and flow to the bassline that really gets the juices flowing.

“Over the past 15 years the label I started as a hobby, as a way to involve myself in drum and bass, has taken over my life. I’m so lucky to have worked with such incredible artists, have them realise their creativity, and travelled all over the world spreading the sound I love.

I deliberated for a long time over what type of record we should put together to celebrate reaching both our 15th birthday and 100th release. I like to think of us as a label that looks forward, that focuses on what the future holds and on how to make statements without sacrificing our core ideals, to release exciting music centred around the 170bpm tempo. So with this in mind I wanted the LP to be about where the label is now and where it’s going, a snapshot of the music that represents the Critical sound by core label acts and some choice friends.
