Ho ho ho, the mystery-shrouded Rrose - named after Marcel Duchamp’s eponymous persona, punches in right on cue for Xmas with an absolute monster of a two-hour jaunt into their exquisitely twisted headspace. Having served up some of the finest techno slabs of the past decade through the likes of Sandwell District, Stroboscopic Artefacts and now their own dedicated imprint, Eaux, Rrose steps in the series with a bonkers mix of dusty techno hustle-and-bustle, neatly alternating sequences of pumping 4x4 aerobatics, searing, noise-adjacent outbursts and eerie melodies to hypnotic effect. A constant balancing act of raw power and haunting score, Rrose’s RYC mix takes us on a deep and fascinating trip into genre-unbound territories, where only abandon and wildness reign supreme. Class 1990, @viels was born in a little city outside Milan (Italy). Early in his adolescence he discovered techno culture inspired by a book called “TECHNO“ by Christian Zingales. Having released his first Ep on Initial Berlin in 2015, Viels continued his musical path appearing with a track on the well respected dutch imprint Dynamic Reflection, followed by his debut ep “Distrophism” and contributing for the 10 years anniversary of the label, among some of the most recognised artists in the scene: Donato Dozzy, Mike Parker, Shifted, Oscar Mulero, Blawan, Ness, Jeroen Search and many more.

Co-owner with Francesco della Sala of “End Of Perception”, Viels just released also on label such Warm Up, Non Series, Mord, and Semantica Records.
At the moment he is resident of the Acquario party in Milano and an active part of the organization of it.

With an increasing interest and having performed in quality clubs like Tresor, Perron, Cassette, Schron and shared the booth with the likes of Oscar Mulero, Svreca and Dasha Rush to name a few, Viels is establishing himself as part of a new wave of djs and producers approaching the contemporary techno scene.

Irakli Kiziria is a much lauded cultural force in his chosen home Berlin. For over a decade, the Georgian transplant has been crafting a space somewhere between belligerent rhythm and ambient dreamscape with a growing number of influential projects to his name. His 10am-10pm STAUB parties offering legendary daytime gathering soundtracked by an incognito list of techno’s finest, and earlier collaboration in the form of I/Y also setting forth a voice and imprint to publish the work of consonant peers. More recently, his home-listening outlet Intergalactic Research Institute For Sound has funeled his energies towards a “dreamy, more abstract, 'intergalactic' music”. And it’s from this realm that this next Zenaari instalment emerges: a tripped-out reverie that walks his more delicate line. Zenaari Mix 016 weaves together gently waltzing piano interludes with the chiming of bells, lullaby warps with the analogue crackle of a vintage speaker and the confident strumming of a lute. Irakli given free-hand to explore his space in heavens and this is the result, an intimate augur for a promising future and 80-minute (all vinyl) podcast hued with the longing and strange.

French-born, Tbilisi-based Ina Kacz is a DJ and producer whose vision far exceeds the limitations of a genre, including one as multi-faceted as techno. Her shape-shifting sets span a wide spectrum of styles and sub-divisions, flourishing somewhere at the junction of acid-drenched cycloramas, chiselled ambient breaks, twilight dubs and chrome-coated industrialism. With her exquisitely fine touch and impeccable understanding of the groove, the French artist pulls out a two-hour jaunt into her pulsating headspace, packed to the rafters with streamlined style collision, inch-perfectly engineered plot twists and hair-raising momentums.

Steve Bicknell has remained deeply engaged and highly active within an underground electronic music scene he has helped shape and inspire since the early ‘90s. Hosting a legendary, long-running series of cutting-edge club nights, running a number of record labels, working as a DJ, producer, and remixer, he has functioned as both a visionary vital connector, ambassador and creative participant progressing techno in the UK. 

For Bassiani Podcast series, Steve Bicknell presents his well-established S.B. Project. Over the course of the set, he switches back and forth between late ’80s  materials and more recent cuts with a similar intensity. The whole set’s mixed with colorful, dreamy house tunes, that shows off the now Berlin based DJ’s talent for drawing lines between different eras and styles.

The cohesive array of depth charged devices that Anthony Linell has produced is formidable. From his opening statements as Abdulla Rashim on his early label of the same name, right through to his recent work that puts his aliases aside, there is a robust and rigorous intent that compounds the elemental strategies of techno's models to apprehend his singular vision.

Presiding over Stockholm's Northern Electronics label with Varg (Jonas Rönnberg), Linell dispenses with mechanisms of attention on all fronts. Marked by an indefatigable self-reliance, the label presents exactly what it means to display, and no more. Carving an idiosyncratic platform for his music is as great of a warning as there could be that Linell's leveraging little toward the benefit of the audience. By his measure, the familiarity and comfort of contemporary techno is stripped back to its rushing heart, the senses left tailgating the strobe in a fit of intuition over decision. The greater this is exposed the colder it gets, and its in these extremes that Linell's caustic rhythmic precision hits. Live, it comes off as a galvanizing strike from the outside; analysing the room as a DJ, it's a case of being pursued through the dark.

Just as the brevity of Linell's output in the eyes of techno is exalted as it is brought into focus, the background to this blurs as you start to decipher his other projects. Lundin Oil skirts the fringes of noise and experimental music, and in collaboration with Varg as Ulwhednar, this is perhaps even more pronounced.

Purposively ricocheting between the techno world and experimental electronic music, Linell forges a distinct passage that gathers the aesthetically uncompromising motifs and missions from across this spectrum. It's this combination and resolve that's brought Linell to the world's attention, however little that attention has been solicited.
