blurer is a peripheral study exploring ways to perceive our surroundings beyond any focal point. The poetic text where the winds are coming from, invites contributing artists and musicians to collectively explore a world that has become unfamiliar yet again. Inspired by the moment Alice tumbles into Wonderland, it asks what it means to unlearn, relearn, and navigate within a world anew. Like Alice, this conceptual mixtape delves into places, things, and feelings that have been overlooked, ignored or seen as a backdrop. The text, tracks, and sounds of this compilation take us on an explorative journey—not to arrive somewhere, but to sense that what lies within the blur has always already been in the here:now.

Most music is used as a form of abstract translation. To unblur the personal, we abstract it and transform and transport it through familiar sounds. Through abstraction, the motives are essentialized to their core. In this, minimalism becomes a prioritisation. A blur can be more flexible. The reduction of elements could be optimistic or protective.
What this release does is observe the peripheral, to look for emotionality or personality within it, but also to create atmospheres that appear peripheral, yet are again included in the general blur.
When hearing the sounds of blurer, the focus of the compositions fluctuates and directs the listener’s perception to certain points within, not only to hear what seems essential but also to draw closer attention to the peripheral. Throughout the whole release, the procedures are very different. Some moments are vivid, almost narrative. There are deconstructed references to find, in both energetic and quiet forms. Occasionally, we pass by rearing, foggy drone walls or prancing, twirling, or scurrying melodies carried around, on synths or guitar strings. Blurer seems to harbor atmospheres of comfort in the cold, loops of spiraling memories or expressions of disorientation, that scamper around on the acoustic foundation created by the 19 artists.

Well, here we are. The day that changes everything in the traditional Catholic movement - the "canonization" of Angelo Roncalli and Karol Wojtyla, also known as "Pope" John XXIII and "Pope" John Paul II.

We have reached an event in history that has only been rivaled by Vatican Council II and the introduction of the Novus Ordo Missae of Paul VI. Today's events are of such monumental and unspeakable scandal that words fail us to provide an apt description of this program.

Why is this not just business as usual? What will now happen to the traditional Catholic movement as a whole? How will those who identify themselves "traditional Catholics" reconcile their belief that Francis is a legitimate Pope bearing the authority of Christ with the idea that John Paul II is now a saint raised to the altars. The Conciliar Church now says that John Paul II is not only to be venerated -- but imitated -- as a man who displayed heroic virtue and doctrinal purity.

The day of the blizzard has arrived.
The music of Mystics drags us into a thunderstorm of syncopated rhythmic elements and electrical atmospheres. We can feel the rain flowing on our skins, the wind that violently pierces our bodies: the breath is missing, the raindrops are internal. The tension is present in an almost perennial way throughout the duration of this EP - it's more like a therapy.
AFN001 represents a declaration of intent, perfectly executed by Mystics. Already from the first release you can understand, in fact, what the label sets out: to explore the most melancholic and emotional corners of electronic music. About this mix: It’s simply said all industrial music, angst pop or whatever you want to call it. I think I took a selection which represents a bit the roots and the diversity of the genre and music. It's not possible to capture the entire genre and I feel like I still left out some great bands, but for me this mix reflects some of my favourite moods and feelings of industrial music. It is after all really beautiful, intense and cruel music."

After a long wait, Etang Brulant is absolutely stunned and delighted to bring you serbian musician Zhe Pechorin and her new solo release, « Boundary Lessons ». After several appearances on Various Artists these past months (Amek, Minor Adjustments...), a 20 minutes live jam released on Ōtium and a cassette on Holy Geometry two years ago, « Boundary Lessons » seems to crystallize the mental universe and her thoughts network in a touching and highly personal way.

Using deep pads and pristine synths drowned in an ethereal reverberation without ever slipping into a cacophony of lost or forgotten frequencies, the melodic composition of Zhe Pechorin demonstrates a calm and peaceful state of mind, yet torn apart by an overwhelming melancholy, sometimes subtly pulled out of its torpor by noisy addings and the discrete trespassing of damaged leads. Through the listening of the whole album and the meaning of titles, one can feel a strong sense of loss ; almost a mourning process or a heavy nostalghia, adhesive to the skin and the mind and dangerously craving for recognition. Homesickness of an unknown time, of an unknown land, of an unknown past - or a real and more painful impression of regret, one can choose the shape of its interpretation.

The cohesive array of depth charged devices that Anthony Linell has produced is formidable. From his opening statements as Abdulla Rashim on his early label of the same name, right through to his recent work that puts his aliases aside, there is a robust and rigorous intent that compounds the elemental strategies of techno's models to apprehend his singular vision.

Presiding over Stockholm's Northern Electronics label with Varg (Jonas Rönnberg), Linell dispenses with mechanisms of attention on all fronts. Marked by an indefatigable self-reliance, the label presents exactly what it means to display, and no more. Carving an idiosyncratic platform for his music is as great of a warning as there could be that Linell's leveraging little toward the benefit of the audience. By his measure, the familiarity and comfort of contemporary techno is stripped back to its rushing heart, the senses left tailgating the strobe in a fit of intuition over decision. The greater this is exposed the colder it gets, and its in these extremes that Linell's caustic rhythmic precision hits. Live, it comes off as a galvanizing strike from the outside; analysing the room as a DJ, it's a case of being pursued through the dark.

Just as the brevity of Linell's output in the eyes of techno is exalted as it is brought into focus, the background to this blurs as you start to decipher his other projects. Lundin Oil skirts the fringes of noise and experimental music, and in collaboration with Varg as Ulwhednar, this is perhaps even more pronounced.

Purposively ricocheting between the techno world and experimental electronic music, Linell forges a distinct passage that gathers the aesthetically uncompromising motifs and missions from across this spectrum. It's this combination and resolve that's brought Linell to the world's attention, however little that attention has been solicited.
