1908 rag time hit Wild Cherry Rag sung by Arthur Collins. It is one of the actual six selectable cylinders on the 1909 Regina Hexaphone at the Olden Year Musical Museum. For a quarter, patrons had their choice.

We the Sea Lions' "All in Your Hands" comes from Fort Worth Weekly's 2013 Music Awards compilation CD, Frequencies, Vol. 4, featuring 18 tracks, all from nominees in our annual contest, who are all from Tarrant County (mostly Fort Worth). Recorded live at Eagle Audio Recording on the Near Southside in mid-May, the CD will officially be released at Fort Worth Weekly's 11th Annual Music Awards Festival (MAF), Sunday, June 23, at eight venues in the West 7th corridor. Burning Hotels, Fungi Girls, Quaker City Night Hawks, Whiskey Folk Ramblers, Calhoun, The Hanna Barbarians, The Longshots, The Phuss, and 40 more bands, nominees all, are slated to play. Admission to MAF'13 is free, and proceeds from the $5-a-pop sale of our CDs will benefit our charity sponsor, the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Through the sale of our CDs over the past several years through, we’ve raised more than $5,000 for our previous charities, including the food bank and SafeHaven of Tarrant County.

09 Low Life -- Ice Eater

For the past 17 years, the Fort Worth Weekly has been celebrating the wonderful talent in our backyard via our Music Awards, in which readers vote for their favorite artists in genres as diverse as rock and hip-hop, jazz and folk.

As part of the awards every year, we throw a massive FREE daylong concert in the West 7th corridor. Featuring 48 bands -- all nominees and all from Fort Worth (or close enough) -- our Music Awards Festival is the largest celebration of Fort Worth music in the world. This year's event is Sunday, June 22, at eight venues in the West 7th corridor: Capital Bar, Fred's Texas Cafe, The Grotto, Lola's Saloon, Magnolia Motor Lounge, Poag Mahone's, The Pour House, and Rodeo Goat.

The festival also will mark the official release of Frequencies, Vol. 5, our latest annual charity comp CD featuring new or previously unrecorded tracks by select nominees, including Ronnie Heart, FOGG, Jetta in the Ghost Tree, Leon Bridges, Slumberbuzz, The Fibs, Huffer, and more, all recorded live at Eagle Audio on the Near Southside. Proceeds from the $5-a-pop sale of the discs will go toward this year's charity sponsor, the Tarrant Area Food Bank.
