A little song about how desperate times seem to be with the news that The UK is now fully closing it's borders to refugees and asylum seekers.

“Sarah” repaints serotonin as “the one that got away” in an upbeat pop funk love song devoted to that most coveted of neurotransmitters. Bowie meets Bruno Mars in Jack’s sultry yet speedy vocals on a head nodding bed of Nile Rodgers and Jamiroquai style grooves.

Sarah is the first single from an EP recorded with Gormie (Angie McMahon, Julia Jacklin) at Treehouse Studios, Victoria.

Reframing mental health as a lover that was taken for granted, the song recounts those substance-fuelled feel-good moments you had together, through a lens of nostalgia and a tinge of regret.

My name is Anthony Martin and I am a musician from Kent. I've always struggled in one area of music: direction. I've always written sad, introspective songs to use as an exercise in catharsis. I've also always written silly little songs and often use comedy as a defence mechanism which means that I'm often self depricating and attempting humour between songs for live shows.

With the ever-present dichotomy of comedy vs tragedy, and after years of hiding behind my ill conceived and childish comedy moniker "Antmonkey" I decided to put my "serious" songs out under my own name and leave my comedy for the Antmonkey to devour. 

This presented a problem for live performance in a sense that I don't have enough songs to fulfil an entire set of just one of those genres. So, effectively, if you come to an Anthony Martin/Antmonkey show you will get comedy times tragedy. Which hopefully equals awesome. 

I am also active in various other areas of music, I am a part-time promoter, usually for charity and through Antfest/Antfestive/Herofest/TheResurROCKtion I've helped to raise over £40,000 for various charities over the years. Go team.

I also play bass and sing in Beer Pressure, a wedding and functions band playing up and down the country at weddings/parties and in pubs and clubs. Entertainment-tastic!
