As a major force in the electronic music scene, his club set history includes regular appearances at some of the world's most iconic venues, and this coming weekend (11th-12th March) he’s back here in Farringdon for our next Continuum 24+ hours for a B2B set with Ilian Tape homeboys and founders, the Zenker Brothers.

In this exclusive mix, created specifically for our ongoing series, Stenny takes us on a journey through his unique musical vision. From gritty techno to ethereal soundscapes, Stenny's experimental approach is on full display. A sweltering hour in the mix, that pounds the drums, ebbs and flows, and picks up the pace just when you want it to.

Very happy to have an artist I've admired for a while now join the series, Italian producer/dj Lucca Mucci aka Piezo (@piezopz). With an impressive repertoire of releases on Idle Hands, Wisdom Teeth and more, Piezo has become known for a unique signature style, spacey, bassy soundscapes with serpentine percussion lines & ever-surprising quirks & charms. 

His DJ style is a poignant flow on from his productions - his set at @terraforma festival last year was a major highlight for me - he soundtracked the scorching hot afternoon with percussive, bassy, rhythmic goodness.

The Deserter

Throughout the years, producer and DJ The Deserter has developed a profound fascination for underground movements and musical counterculture. It was this exact captivation, and the influence of 90s rave pioneers, classic Detroit techno, and emerging talent; that formed his craft into a dynamic and versatile style, characterized by seamless transitions between genres and relentless precision. 

In terms of his productions, he has contributed to acclaimed labels and compilations such as Appointee Rec, Bat Soup Crew, Bogoture Records, Bestiario Collective, Your Character, Ovelha Trax, Perlas Label, WC Fast Music Delivery, FU.ME.REC, Furatena and Sufrimiento Records.

In September of this year, the release of his first EP for Perlas Label titled 'The Mass Looting' is scheduled, accompanied by a release party. Additionally, there are also pending remixes and participation in compilations for this year which you should definitely keep an eye on.

This mix mostly features music from his colleagues, friends, and labels from Argentina and South America. It reflects the frenetic Buenos Aires underground scene and its burgeoning talent, the product of a deep economic crisis that pushes the limits of working-class creativity.

@sann-odea line up their first physical CD compilation 'Ithomiines'. Dedicated to the enrapturing beauty of the Ithomiini butterfly, a species of glasswing butterflies. The compilation aims to soundtrack the metamorphosis of the insect by inviting label artists to interpret the organism. Our pick from the compilation is ‘Natu‘ by Dutch producer and Radio TNP resident @marijnswillens.

- T'es qui mec ?

Hello à vous ! Tout d’abord merci de me recevoir ici, c’est mon premier podcast depuis un moment donc je suis ravi de remettre le couvert pour un crew local :)). Je m’appelle Maël, je fais de la musique sous le nom Lost In Material. Je suis plutôt le genre de producteur à être fada des machines et comme mon nom l’indique je me sers un peu de la pluralité de mes goûts pour me définir artistiquement. Ça passe par de l’ambient, de l’idm, de l’electro, du breakbeat, de l’EBM et parfois même un peu de trucs post-punky.

- Des projets en cours ?

Je bosse sur un live machine qui devrait être prêt d’ici octobre, c’est un des projets qui m’excite le plus en ce moment !

Sinon on bosse à fond avec Côme aka Selected Dream Memories sur notre projet Computer Love. Initialement c’était un concept de soirée dédié à l’univers Electro mais là on est en train d’étendre le truc à fond, j’en dis pas plus pour le moment mais ça s'annonce très cool…

- Quels sont les artistes ou projets qui t'inspirent sur la scène locale ?

Je suis allé au Positive Education festival pour la première fois l’année dernière et j’en suis revenu très marqué par tout ce que j’ai pu y voir, c’est un des projets de la région qui me réjouis à fond. Sur Lyon plus précisément j’aime beaucoup le taff de Warzou et ce qui sort sur son label Big Science Records. En termes de lieux, je recommande absolument le Sonic et le Grrrnd Zero, deux scènes hyper importantes pour la culture alternative lyonnaise à mon sens et où je suis régulièrement marqué par ce que je peux y voir. 

Enfin, je trouve beaucoup de force dans les différent.es copaines artistes de toute pratiques qui peuvent m’entourer de prêt ou de loin, je les salue très fort.

- Comment aimerais-tu voir évoluer la scène électronique Lyonnaise ?

Avec le climat politique extrêmement inquiétant qu’il y a en ce moment c’est difficile de mettre au premier rang des revendications artistiques même si je vais me contredire tout de suite car c’est évident que la culture va de pair avec les enjeux sociaux et environnementaux auxquels on fait face de plus en plus.
En tout cas culturellement faudrait commencer par avoir les politiques locales de notre côté pour accompagner les petits lieux et la culture qui s’y fait plutôt que de voir ça comme un problème. De notre côté faut se servir de ces espaces pour continuer de spreader des valeurs inclusives, retrouver un peu de force et s’opposer plus encore aux injustices, à l’état policier et au fascisme ambiant, le tout en faisant ce qu’on sait faire de mieux !
