On Nuestra America episode 10, we will be discussing why Latin Americans should focus on adapting Marxism to our own conditions rather than getting caught up in Eurocentric theoretical infighting. As Marxists and materialists we must be focused on the conditions that impact our people and communities and not distracted by struggles dating back a century before. 

We recognize the contributions of soviet Marxism and agree that there’s a lot to learn from their revolution and their theorists. What we will emphasize, however, is that there’s a need to Latin Americanize Marxism. As Mariátegui proposed; socialism in Latin America cannot be a copy of European socialism, it has to be a heroic creation.

As always the second part of the show will be a run down of the weekly news around the region and the diaspora.

Comunicamos que a raíz de la manifestación masiva de protesta realizada el 1º de Diciembre contra la imposición de Enrique Peña Nieto (EPN), hubo detenciones arbitrarias por parte de los cuerpos represivos del Estado. En este contexto, todos l@s pres@s privad@s de su libertad el primer día oficial de este sexenio son pres@s polític@s. La violencia que se ejerce en este sentido, y en todos los aspectos de nuestra vida, emana del Estado. Ejemplos tenemos la aprobación de la reforma laboral que legaliza formas de superexplotación de la clase trabajadora, la militarización del territorio mexicano que ha dejado miles de jóvenes asesinados en el sexenio que ha terminado, entre otros. Esta violencia que se ejerce desde la clase en el poder es incomparablemente mayor a la de las manifestaciones de protesta del 1º de Diciembre. Los maltratos y la tortura recibidos por l@s pres@s de conciencia son una muestra más de que la violencia emana del Estado. Es sabido que los verdaderos ladrones y asesinos no se encuentran en las cárceles del país, l@s pres@s de México son inocentes y pobres. Hacemos la denuncia de que el Gobierno del Distrito Federal utiliza de manera discrecional el Delito de Ataques a la Paz Pública, para criminalizar la protesta y lucha social, imponiendo una pena de 5 a 30 años de prisión 

Denunciamos la criminalización de la protesta social y el régimen que se impone en México, esta dictadura policiaco-militar de la clase explotadora representada por Enrique Peña Nieto, Miguel Angel Mancera y todos los partidos políticos, instituciones y medios masivos de comunicación del Estado que nos oprime.
Continuaremos luchando hasta la liberación del últim@ de los pres@s del 1º de Diciembre y reiteramos la inclusión de la compañera Rita Emilia Neri Moctezuma que se encuentra presa en el penal femenil de Santa Martha Acatitla. Es por ello que el día de hoy los compañeros presos políticos han decidido realizar un ayuno de 24 horas, para exigir su libertad inmediata e incondicional, simultáneamente Alicia Anaya Flores, esposa de Jorge Dionisio Barrera, preso político del 1 de diciembre, comienza en estos momentos un ayuno de 24 horas en este plantón. 
Como  plantón de apoyo a los presos políticos del primero de diciembre instalado en el reclusorio norte apoyamos y nos solidarizamos con  esta medida de presión, legalmente nuestros compañeros han demostrado que son inocentes, sin embargo el gobierno Federal y Capitalino, se han dedicado a criminalizar la protesta social, es por ello que nosotros consideramos que la única manera para que ellos sean liberados es a través de la movilización política, Por esta razón los compañeros presos políticos y la esposa de Jorge Dionisio Barrera, han tomado la determinación de iniciar un ayuno por 24 horas, poniendo en riesgo su salud al ejercer una medida contundente producto de la cerrazón del Estado. 

En el mismo sentido convocamos a una marcha el próximo martes 18 de Diciembre a las 3:00 de la tarde del Metro UAM Iztapalapa al penal de Santha Martha Acatitla y los invitamos a integrarse al plantón permanente que se instalará fuera del penal femenil de Santa Martha hasta la liberación de los 14 pres@s que faltan. Y nos incorporaremos a la movilización que se realizará el jueves 20 de diciembre a las 4 de la tarde del Monumento a la Revolución a las oficinas del Gobierno del Distrito Federal, pasando por la Secretaría de Gobernación.

The novel coronavirus is still spreading rapidly across the globe and the African continent has not been an exception. In fact, given the circumstances, the outlook for Africa is grim. As of early April, more than half of Africa's 54 countries have imposed lockdowns, curfews, travel bans or other measures in a bid to prevent local transmission of the virus. But the trade-off here is obvious. The measures could soon lead to an economic collapse unless financial assistance is provided to the millions of people out of work.
