I hadn't a written a song in a few years and was going through a dry spell. I randomly met Darren after a night out on the town...probably outside Hillbillys :)

I knew Darren from 1st Year in school. He told me he wrote poetry and we should write a song together. We exchanged details and he sent me 'Far away'. On completion, this song had unlocked a level for me. I could write again. I owe him a lot for that. This song put me on a road that I thought had closed and I will be forever grateful. 

I recorded this on a Tascam 8-Track recorder with no drums at the time but I had no click track and was never super satisfied with the end product. FInally through the power Logic Pro I have some drums on board and the timing is better

I started writing this song back in the naughts. It's gone through a few face-lifts both lyrically and time signaturey. The lock down saw it earning new life and my good friend Niall O' Riordan and his daughter recorded it and showed me how fun and humbling it was to hear someone else sing your song and do an even better job!! 
I finally got round to giving it a go myself and here it is

i wrote 'Outside' using DADF#AD tuning. I loved writing these lyrics and had great fun recording it with Dermot Murphy,Cian and Coran Corbett

Jakob Van Eyck was a Dutch Musician from the 1600's. He wrote many pieces for the recorder and one day when writing, I saw his name on one of my music books and put my pen to paper and came up with this little ditty. I'm sure he didn't really accidentally murder his wife but I guess we'll never really know for sure. I threw in the ukulele again for the laugh


The Ballad Of Jakob Van Eyck

This is the last song co-written song from the Antóin & Cian Corbett Catalog  back in 2005. It took a while but here it finally is in data form. Mmmm tasty data. Almost had a heart attack recording it when there was a power surge and the majority of it wasn't backed up but here it is now and I can rest easy finally. Took the best part of a day to record all by myself and Bazza the drum machine

I'm a Machine

This is an assignment I had for college using additive rhythms. I started off with a funk riff 5/4 and then the second half modulates up to Aminor and changes tempo to 11/8

I wrote this song from the point of view of a guy with multiple personality disorder. One personality wants to pack up and leave but the main guy isn't ready to let them go just yet

And his journal read that Wefter
Was the owner and so Jet took his name

Jet educated himself through Wefter’s

He studied all his journals for sixteen years
And decided to move right back to the city

Jet put a gun to his head and left a blood stained wall

Jet got out of town and became a drifter
Whoring himself out so he could have a feed
He found himself in trouble with one beefy punter
Jet said something silly so he punched his tee-eeth

Wreckin' my head

Antóin Corbett is an Irish Musician. A Graduate of Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa's 'Music, Management and Sound', Antóin and his brother Cian fronted Cork band 'The Sneakies'. He gigged on the Wedding band circuit for a few years before pursuing a bachelor's degree in music and progressing to a Professional Masters of Education at University College Cork. 
Antóin is now a Secondary School Music teacher and still writes songs, most recently for playwright Justin Irwin's three consecutive plays; 'Cheat', 'My regards to Mae' and 'Lunch on Lennox Street'
