When they told me I was flying to Oregon to play a family reunion, I didn't comprehend that I was playing THE FAMILY REUNION. An annual gathering of all the people that make Oregon a fun place to be, TFR is a retreat by professionals FOR professionals. As such, they weren't looking for 1 hour sets by the hottest names trying to out whomp eachother. Rather, these were a mix of live music fans, (like birthday boy Hal & the incredible Uta) and heady electronic heads.

Thus they got what I consider the best set I played in 2012, a near three hour journey from Scruffian jazz into electronic madness, with stops in the funk, swing, latin and rock along the way. Very proud of this live set. Many thanks to the entire Black Sheep Family for making it happen.

Max Cooper Live - Movements Through Self Contained Space (free download)

This was an attempt to make an enveloping wash of sounds to drown in. It started as a techno track but I realised it worked best without drums to get down to what it's really all about. It was released on Traum a while ago, but I just stumbled across it today and it seemed to suit my mood so I thought I better put it on soundcloud.

The artwork is a scan of a dried flower by my friend Ben Slater (http://www.behance.net/benslater), which I adjusted the colours on to make all saturated and purple. It's from the same set of scans that Ben used to make my Expressions EP artwork - still my favourite release artwork to date for sure.

Max Cooper - Sea Of Sound - Ambient Rework

Part two of a four-hour latenight set from Panic en la Playa, @ Hard Rock Hotel, Dominican Republic. A great honor to be chosen for this wonderful event (thanks to Cloud9 Adventures and Widespread Panic). I prepared a lot of music for this set, including research into stuff the band covered and made a few edits, mashups and remixes of my own. In all, very proud of the outcome, and overjoyed with the response. This was by far one of the most joyous events I have been to and I feel very lucky to have been there.
