The table was lined with all manner of sweet treats and delicious desserts; it was a banquet fit for a king and queen. Just looking at the infinite options available was enough to make you feel full; cream cakes were perched alongside iced biscuits, macaroons and mountains of jelly, stretching as far as the eye could see. This was something as a child they could only dream of - could death by sugar be a thing?

For their first release of 2022, and their sixth to date, Taiwan's JIN 禁 Records call on the talents of South Korean artist Yetsuby, who makes up one half of ambient duo Salamanda. Her ability to create soundscapes driven by mood and emotion is still present on this EP, but this time she explores the realms of bass, DnB and IDM across four fresh cuts. On the flip, master of the remix New Zealand's Eden Burns puts his signature progressive trance spin on 'Jelly', twisting it into a psychedelic slow burner to keep those energy levels up.

The Buenos Aires-based Strain collective branches out with this first vinyl release and, as you will know if you are reading this, a fine one it is too. 

This is a tech house with real clout - Muten's 'Gag' bangs nicely with some nuanced pads and squirming machines adding detail. Desiree Falessi's 'Phenomenal' is high-speed house with alluring and far-sighted pad work then Botwin ups the ante with the raved-up tech of 'Decomposed Areas.'

The story of this EP dates back to 2021, when we—the whole BMP crew—were attending our annual family gathering at the now-defunct Sarcus festival (R.I.P).

On a late Saturday afternoon, we all gathered under the same tent to watch one of our dear friends perform live. You guessed it: this friend is @malouane. From the first track of the live set, we in the audience exchanged astonished looks. We knew he had been working hard on this live set for months but didn't know anything about it. As the live set unfolded, we kept traveling mentally in a perpetual state of amazement.
By the end of the set, we all had the same idea: to congratulate Malouane and ask for the tracks so we could release an EP that would capture the essence of this live set, allowing us to relive that very special moment.

After a long wait, we are now more than happy to share some selected tracks from the set with you, hoping you will feel the same excitement we felt at the time.
As a cherry on top, besides having four tracks from Malouane, we asked our dear friend @gabrielbelabbas —from Positive Future—to craft an additional remix, giving this EP a deep house edge.

We're excited to release "Your World EP" from our very own Sami. This EP features four dance floor heaters, filled with upbeat energy and a unique blend of world sounds nodding to his upbringing in Asia and Australia. The sound is coherent to his affinity of 90s Prog/Trance - whilst incorporating a sample of the didgeridoo and an Indian traditionalist vocalist, creating for a rich & diverse soundscape.

Hypnotic is what comes to mind. Throughout, the use of pads creates space, floating above the energetic acid rhythms typical of his productions.

DC Promo Tracks #84: Lemonade "Dancer On The Shore" (Jex Opolis Dub)

Down the long driveway at the end of Second Avenue is a single story abode perched on a cliff overlooking the water. The timber constructed house built in the 1950s, is surrounded by native pohutukawa trees whose bright red coloured flowers are mimic'ed by the window frames and detailing of the exterior. As you walk down the narrow path along the side of the property, you can peer into the studio and catch a glance of an older man working away at his desk. Surrounded by books, records and CDs he will be drafting plans by hand for his next project. Continue along the path and reach the edge of the cliff — watch your step as you go down the decaying staircase and arrive at a small landing lapping in the waves of the harbour.  

This record is dedicated to my grandfather Jack and the house he built.
