Well crafted and I have to say original.  I haven't heard any upright ever with your caliber of playing doing what you do.  I've heard a cellist looper lady and many other guitar loopers (I'm not sure if you are using a looper or just multitracking).. but this definately goes in a new direction and is pleasing to listen to.

Antonio Raspanti is a sicilian Composer, double bass Player and Artist who has turned his classic instrument into a compact and modern orchestra. With the aid of a loop station, not only Antonio can perform his own complex compositions Live but his double bass, called Viola, becomes a surprising and powerful electronic tool. 
Antonio transforms the metallic and wooden sounds of his acoustic instrument into digital tunes…melodic or raw, hypnotic and mysterious, soothing and seductive…music to soul, soul to music.

His nine-year-study took him from the Conservatoire of Music A. Scontrino in Trapani where he studied with Maestro L.Ghidini, to the Conservatoire V. Bellini in Palermo and finally to the Conservatoire G. Nicolini in Piacenza with Maestro E.Fagone where he graduated in 2009.
As Principal Double bass, he performed with many Orchestras such as the O.S.M. (Orchestra Sinfonica del Mediterraneo), O.G.S.S. (Orchestra Giovani Solisti Siciliani), O.K.P. (Orchestra da camera Kandinskij di Palermo), A.C.A.M. (Accademia Concertante degli Archi di Milano) as well as playing with chamber music ensembles.

After his remarkable classical academic and professional path, he quickly moved his practice into a very personal and explorative journey. He has since composed music for varied artistic projects aiming to blend music and body movement, and using improvisation as a creative mean, especially in Contemporary Circus. 
Amongst performances for which he has tailored the music, the final show of the FLIC School of Circus in Turin where he also taught music; Exit12 for the E.S.A.C. (Ecole Supérieure des Arts du Cirque) in Bruxelles; the contemporary dance shows In Dote, as part of the Festival Co.dance and Loup at the TOFringe Festival (Turin).
In 2010, he also performed as a Musician and Actor with the IACA Quartet Company who was awarded at the International Contemporary Circus Festival Brocante (Val Colvera, PN).

Alongside those exciting projects, Antonio has composed and self produced his first album So far released in 2012 in Italy. He has been invited to perform his original pieces in diverse venues such as the prestigious Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, for the cultural event "Vivere di Cultura” (2011). Another noticeable concert took place at the Palazzo Tagliaferro (Andora SV) for the Butoh Dancer Kazuo Ohno’s homage in 2013.

Recently, his album So Far has joined the original soundtrack of the documentary Last Call  produced by Zenit Arti audiovisive (Turin) in association with Skofteland (Norway).
