Newly minted label Psychic Relief poses up and flexes shamelessly with its inaugural release Muscles Hug Your Bones, a brawny EP of swirling technoid psychedelia, muscular bass-weight, and unabashed sentimentality by Philadelphia-based rave rascal Furtive. 

Bringing things into motion is Convoke, an impellant, rippling track opening with a stalwart kick and shifting, auroric sheets of harmonics. This densely textured wormhole slinker isn’t ostentatious, but its unrelenting progression and deliberate percussive maneuvers will command feet to move, summoning dancefloor supplicants toward pulsing speaker stacks.   

The EP’s title track punches in with a crunchy, energizing bounce - primed to bring packed rooms into full, rocking swing. The immediacy of its peppy, rambunctious groove and rolling, skittering percussion is bound to start frothing things up… and the acid line hasn’t even come in! Once that rippling squelch starts bubbling up, the frenzy of this sweaty, muscular weapon simply has to be felt - it’s a proper belter, while also perfectly arranged for slick and easy playback. Muscles has been play-tested in many packed rooms, and it always does the trick! 

Three digital tracks supplement the vinyl release. With Hedera, Furtive conjures another billowing textural wash of staggered, thumping psychedelic techno, steadily mounting into a cresting wave of rippling oscillations. Leafy Spinach is a salad of dreamy bouncing, of twinkling and winding bubbles, a track that would be outright goofy if it wasn’t for the seriousness of the bass punches. Wet Glass is a romantic, cinematic dreamscape - a warm, glowering collage of snippets of field recordings with uplifting, ghostly story-time synths and spectral piano plinking. 

Furtive is a full-gonzo rave conjurer and relentless creative tinkerer, intractably committed to the rave as a producer, DJ, underground event organizer, and dancer. Furtive brings a scintillating and sentimental touch to their many polished and focused genre-spanning productions, informed by over a decade of experience in the studio and yielding a rich selection of self-released tracks, contributions to VA comps, and recent vinyl pressings.

A veritable product of the contemporary American underground, Furtive cut their teeth as a DJ and DIY event organizer in Washington, DC’s warehouses, where they played a turnkey role in putting on some of the District’s zaniest techno parties. Furtive now co-runs an intimate, blossoming off-the-books venue in Philadelphia. As a DJ, Furtive has supported internationally celebrated, no-nonsense acts and held court in dingy local watering holes with eclectic selections and a steadfast focus on pacing and dynamics, regularly jumping genres to build moving and impactful sets. Beyond the fog and speaker stacks, Furtive creates art in a variety of mediums.

Superb work  as always here from Lithuania's @pletnev, with a choice cut from his new @burninmusic EP 'When The Job Is Done'. Atmospheric synth swoops play out a melancholic riff while juicy acid rises from the depths, all pummeling along at a pacey clip. Great attention to detail throughout.

Influenced by both uk and us bass music, her percussive sets are vibrant, simultaneously exploring depth in textures and groove, and catches dancefloors off guard with her ingenious blending of tempos and genres. Her Rinse France residency is a must-listen with guest appearances by the likes of Anaco, LMajor, Noria Lilt, Turk Turkelton, Ila Brugal, just to name a few. And definitely don’t sleep on going to see her mastery live with events like Quest404, Casa Voyager, and tplt vision already in the books.

Back from the wave is probably the most personal project of Fred Rodrigues- Carreira, French artist ,Dj, and Electronic music producer for twenty years. Influenced by new and Cold wave music and early post-punk bands like Depeche Mode, New Order, Norma Loy, Joy Divison or Talking Heads, he starts production with only a juno 106, a bass station and a sequencer. He started on two French techno labels, Goodlife (The Hacker and Miss Kittin) and Scandium Records (Paul Nazca and André Dalcan). He will also explore all the musical spectres under several aliases with different artistic projects. Passionate and curious about music, he naturally becomes Dj and performed in France and abroad.
His production is always dedicated to the dance floor, combining Electro, Techno, Syntwave, and Dark Disco like his Dj sets.
« Back From the Wave » project is a tribute to all the artists and music influencing Fred today. Since 2018 he has been releasing music on different labels such as Critical Monday, Esthetique Records, Bordello A Parigi , Mosaique Records, Roam Records, Nein Records, Melopée Records, Ombra International, Ritmo Fatale and now Space Factory with a stellar release, features 5 EBM & Electroclash injected tracks, including 2 killer remixes from David Carretta and Panthera.

Spray retires the eponymously, to instead seek Punctuality; a new label for ‘dastard club elegies in the dark’ hosted by the maestro himself. Blu:sh clocks in to provide the imprint’s inaugural extended player with U is for U and me, a pentagonal suite of nocturnal seductions for ‘U’, our dear listener, from ‘he’, its rosy-cheeked conductor.

B is for Blu:sh (sometimes Benoit B and Terra Utopia), a froward node in the artist’s trilateral soul whose previous charm offensives for Roza Terenzi’s Step Ball Chain and Rey Colino’s Kalahari Oyster Cult under the alias signalled the arrival of a new challenger to the ‘hits parade’. U is for U and me provides distinct variations on the theme of ‘club allure’, five tracks of sparkling body music that captivate in its relentless drive for kinetic salvation.
