The Crystal Ark return with a double pack 12” containing some wildly engaging, stripped-down mixes of 4 tracks from their 2012 debut album on DFA. Contains brand new extended versions of the songs Rain, Paradise, Ascension, and We Came To.

The band has the following to say about these remixes:

“Mixing The Crystal Ark album was a deep process. Viva Ruiz and I spent a month in the studio with Matt Thornley and as we mixed the tracks we discovered that certain parts of them sounded so wonderful and driving when stripped down that we did some extra mixes to highlight this aspect. It felt connected to the "Dub" or "Techno" mixes you'd find on late 80's - mid 90's dance 12"s, which were often much more pounding than the original versions of the tracks, more geared to the dance floor than the radio.”

Producers Kasper Bjørke and Jon Atli Helgasson’s second issue for the label, Bullschnitzel, continues in the futuristic techno and dark disco vein of preceding Correspondant releases, here injected with 80s post-punk and cold wave.
The EP’s opener, “I Love The Way You Hold My Hips”, struts at a steady 112 bpm, with an acoustic percussive structure offset by spaced- out synths and smoldering guitar riffs. The remix comes from Red Axes, a joint project from Tel Aviv-based producers and DJs Dori Sadovnik and Niv Arzi, who run the track through a chemical bath for looser sound.
The Mansisters’ second original submission, “Bullschnitzel”, is a soundtrack for subversion and strange phenomena. Tension diffuses through the deployment of escalating drones, cut with off-key synth tunings and a brooding, regular pulse.
Correspondant label head Jennifer Cardini offers up a remix to round out the release.
The syncopated Roland TB-303 rhythms that drive her “Highway to Schnitzel” are adulterated with a heavy dose of acid, nodding toward the diverse dancefloors she’s worked in over two decades in electronic music.

PRÈMIÉRE: Vosper & Ponsolo - I Wish [Meant]

The debut release on Omnidisc's Polyester Series is from Lithuanian-duo Roe Deers and their intelligent, unpredictable sound has been channeled in the 'Rush' EP. 

The title track is a low-tempo destroyer and although the pace is lowered, the pair make up for it with a serious amount of voodoo dread. It's dark, devilish and premiering right here, right now.

Continuing on with our theme of selecting our favourite producers from the past year to give us their interpretation of Duﬀstep's 'Getting to Sirius' we have arrived at the last of three remix EP's. This one lands ﬁrmly in the dub camp and features three producers responsible for some of the ﬁnest bass music to emerge from the continuing diversiﬁcation of dubstep; or sub-low as it was more astutely coined back in the bad old days.

First up and fresh oﬀ the back of releasing his third album on Planet Mu we asked FaltyDL to rework 'Tired'. Our only roll of the dice outside of the UK on this one, FaltyDL is a New Yorker who has become synonymous with intricate and rolling 2-step rhythms underpinned by a rattling sub bass fearsome enough to shake even the most 'sirius' of bootys. His mix delivers the sort of style we have come to expect; beautifully layered melodies, rolling bass and low swung 2-step rhythms.

Eliphino delivers the second mix, a free-fall swelled up and dubbed out version of 'Free'. He is fast becoming one of the UK bass music scenes' ﬁnest assets, his recent track 'Let Me Love You Forever' was picked up by Giles Peterson for a release on his Brownswood imprint.

Young Montana? is young but he is not from Montana, he does however continue to produce what can only be described as the clearest window into the mind of a young producer that has ever existed. Dropping the third remix for the package, Young Montana's music seems to defy any logical means of music creation and fast forwards straight to mind boggling notions of genius. 'Sacre Cool', an epic re-mash of Chemise 'She Can't Love You' is due out on his 'Limerence' debut LP on Alpha Pup in May. If you haven't checked it out on youtube, do it now. Seriously, right now. This is a boy that is going to do very well this year and we are very proud to be ﬁrst in line to capture some of his beat wizardry on wax. 

An oﬃcial survey has shown that there is higher percentage of people in the UK excited by the prospect of this EP than there is for the Olympics.
