A Prisoner's Dream

Anton Kuznetsov does New Music Theatre with electronics. His works explore various semantic connections between composed music and visual elements.

Creating tropes which emphasize the in-betweenness of intermediality is, as I see it, a crucial premise for my works.

A central question for me as a composer is where does the subject lie between the realms of music and theatre.

I am particularly interested in the dramaturgical expansion made possible by the various relations between electronics and acoustic / performative material. It is both a challenge and my fetish to avoid traces of traditional form and subdue the development of a piece to the theatrical action. In this sense, electronics for me are a way to connect elements - an ephemeral glue.

As a composer Anton is working with various instrumentations, mediums and performance contexts, focusing on transcription and quotation as definitive compositional processes.

Anton Kuznetsov is a Russian-Bulgarian composer and pianist. He completed a Bachelors degree in Music at Goldsmiths, University of London, and a Masters degree in composition at Hochschule für Musik Dresden, Germany, studying with Manos Tsangaris, Franz Martin Olbrisch, Jörn Peter Hiekel & Mark Andre.
