Starter For Ten

This track was involved in a hard disk crash.  I had written it and really liked it during the COVID-19 lockdown and then suddenly my computer ran into huge problems.  It took days for me to recover it, I didn't think I would be able to publish it but with perseverence, I did.

Dreams

This track is one of a short series of songs that I've written in a slightly retro way.  I wanted to make good use of harmony and melody.

When In Venice

This is a new direction for me.  More relaxed, more chilled and with a slightly retro 70s feel to the harmonies.

You know we did and when we did we found the edge and stuck to it like glue
I'd look at you and you at me we'd face the same bright destiny it's true
not all around you'd find a sound, the time to get this butchers work is due
We take their dreams and endless screams and silence pours from every seam 


Hey wag, there is nothing more important to me, so much is down I've stopped being able to see
we were all born into darkness night hunters every one of us 
Shaded by sequoia nothing can possibly ever get to us

talking around, walking around, missing each other in the powder and the deadly dusk or this husk,
you know the one, the one that you've become, bullet in the black light so fast that you'll succumb you must, Succumb you will to the feeling of this chill, the one that is running like a hare down your spine  The spine you claim you have that's a strong as mine: visualise things with your eyes and notice that maybe you've got a demon inside

You know we are, and here we are, the night is wrapping round us like a cloak
I feel for you, and you for me, we know our quarry is so very close 
We know their breath, thier sleeping breath, we both of us know just what the fuck to do
we fill a void, so utterly devoid without encouragement from the ethereal crew:

Smoke trails like whispers from your mouth
darkness within will win the struggle to make its way out
twilight and dusk the thoughts that drift across your mind
your shadows eating at your feet you'll feel your loosing it right

The moon fell into the earth today
A blaze of fire in an autumnal sky, I see you
I wake in heat and fear and haze from this dream
my skin still trembles from your searing gaze you've got me

I find myself drawn to, this place I once knew
I've stood right here a hundred times
but never seen it through
I can clearly hear the crashing waves of the tide
pulling the threads of my soul and tearing me apart inside

I am so very drawn like I hear the sirens nearby
but I stand here staring out to sea I can't find any sign
There is nothing humbles like this place where your power resides
Cold, its so cold but face I it this time I am coming home to you


Juxtaposition not, I'm really torn apart by being 
all together not okay with how your being
your cold hand in my chest it grips my heart still beating
but not for long, my whole world seems to still be reeling

I reach for anything I can do to stop this fear of falling
into the depths where I belong but don't deserve this I'm feeling
just please please pull me out now

Code Blue

That look, in your eyes,

I feel that tension run through me like fate

The Dead Dont Speak

Hey you, is it really you, imagine?

where you walk there is not a sound.

I take a look inside
and here I wonder why
I just don't see you
and I really can't make my way out

The light is very dim
the walls are closing right in
I cannot find you
and I really can't make my way out

Your electric soul beats to another dimension
You seize my gaze with your expertise and sleaze
I watch you run your cold fingers through your silicon hair

Your AI mind will never let me get out
but my human animal heart leaves me in absolutely no doubt

I don't attract, I repel but I don't care,  you know
You know the truth is I've had enough but I can't go
I guess I needed to say to you that I just want you to stay
Does it hurt to listen? I guess it does
you'll lean in and touch me all based on trust
we can give in if we must

Mr Sunshine

As the sun comes up and warms our spirits
So the darkness did descend in your mind
Whilst we made our jails and locked ourselves in
You spread the seeds that would lead to many's demise.

Your wealth has surely soared like angels singing
A tune that you can't hear because your focused on how much you desire
The great unwashed, unclean and undeserving
That gave you all the power that you needed whilst you told us all your lies

A Coin in my hand

The ferryman's told me I will never grow old
Smoke in the air
Smoke in my lungs

As the Moon came up and midnight caught us
So the wolf within you came up to the surface just to bite
And all the schemes and threats you'd wish upon us
Come to pass with time you'll be the only one left upon this isle

What the world needs is a hero like you
while you rake your cash you look up and give the same world a sly wry smile
Run your fingers through the swamp weeds feel them
money or power cannot stop the oarsman taking your body that one last mile
