The energy and freedom of the night...
The song "Locomia," by the group Locomia, is a vibrant celebration of the freedom and energy of Ibiza nightlife. The repetition of words like "Disco, Ibiza, Loco Mía" and the emphasis on themes like fashion, sun, sea, and sex show that the song seeks to convey the island's relaxed and festive atmosphere. The group, which began as a collective of fashion designers, brings to its lyrics and rhythm the idea of transforming the dance floor into a space for free expression, where everyone can let loose and have fun without judgment. Bla Bla, Deep Tech Records and Baile Musik artist Dimmish is the latest up and comer to be nurtured through the Lucidflow family with the 'Gokotta' EP. The three tracker easily fits into the portfolio with its penchant for sharp beats and deep melodies. This is evidenced in heading straight to the title track, where a stark introduction eventually unfurls like time-lapse imagery of a crocus at sunrise. Here, the middle stretch suddenly broadens into pleading arpeggio and strings, tugging at your emotions as the sound of seagulls filter in.Living up to its title, 'Solid' heads straight for bedrock. It is a percussive churning number that aims to disorientate with its dizzying breakdown that turns into a swarm of hi-hats before diving back down into the hypnosis. Rounding off, 'Elision' goes for progressive structure, eking out the introduction of elements as the track pushes on. The path is set with breakbeats and aqua chords, then the anchoring kick is introduced, then greater emphasis on melodic elements. The key conceit are the flourishes that precede these micro-events, most significantly with the swells that accompany the disorientating spoken word poetry in the breakdowns.

Bondage Music reveals the latest installment in its ‘Bondage Games’ series this March as Sascha Dive, Frink, Toman and Philipp Gonzales deliver four original compositions for Part 5.
Launched in 2008, German imprint Bondage Music has established itself as quintessential imprint for many within the world of stripped back, high quality house music, releasing material from the likes of Mihai Popoviciu, NTFO, Markus Homm and Tuccillo across the past 12 months alone. Their ‘Bondage Games’ series has also become a key fixture in the calendar, and here we see the label follow up their 2018 instalment with another vinyl only EP this March, with four fresh productions from Sascha Dive, Frink, Toman and Philipp Gonzales.
Frankfurt’s Sascha Dive opens the package with ‘Dark Night’, a slick house cut guided by deep, dubby chords and entrancing vocals, before Frink’s bubbling ‘Vega’ ups the energy and welcomes bright melodies amongst rolling percussion. Next, emerging talent Toman fuses skipping hats and a heady low-end groove as he reveals ‘Time To Time’, before Philipp Gonzales combines hypnotic lead synths, refined percussion arrangements and suspenseful builds throughout ‘Open Hips’.

Joining the label for the next EP is underground dance music darling, Anabel Englund on a collaborative work with label-head RYBO.

Following the signature Percomaniacs mantra of “Bongos not Bangers”, RYBO crafts a percussion-focused, stripped back instrumental for Anabel’s unmistakable vocal stylings allowing her voice to carry the ebbs and flows of the track’s sub movement and naturally bouncing rhythms.

The release totes 3 stellar remixes from the likes of Berlin’s Joyce Muniz, UK’s Jey Kurmis, and Percomaniacs co-label head Lubelski. 

Joyce Muniz is no stranger deep and melodic grooves; and her remix is no exception. She brings the otherwise radiant original into an almost gloomy light with expressive pads and sharp stabs.

Jey Kurmis follows up with psychedelic flair, oscillating Anabel’s chops to a tremble over tripped out saw-tooths and enigmatic bongos. 

Finally, Lubelski delivers an 80’s indie-electronic inspired remix, carting a driving bassline, evocative chords, and guitar licks in tow. 

All in all, the release features a bit of flavor for anyone craving ‘Something New’.
