A full-scale reinterpretation of an already cutting-edge album. With 'Tech Dreams | The Remixes', Zombie Cats hand the keys of their 2023 LP 'Tech Dreams' over to a curated roster of remixers, Zombie Cats double down with two previously unreleased tracks from the original 'Tech Dreams' sessions, plus their own fresh version of 'Left Nothing'.

Ant TC1 - Studio mix - March 1997 (extracted from tape and re-mastered)

Recorded almost 25 years ago this one, way back in my later teen years.  First time this one has gone on line anywhere.  Found deep in a box of tapes I've not even looked at since the 90's. Brings back good memories of that era in life listening back. 97' was another solid year for this music and it's ongoing progression.

I used to call these 'studio mixes' but in reality back then I was 18 - still living at my Mum's house in Huddersfield, they were recorded there (and only ever recorded there in the 1990s), the actual studio (and any said / claimed recordings) came well and truly later on in life.

“Blue House” sees the return of Jam Thieves to Dispatch Recordings. An impressive debut LP which sees this talented producer focus his attention on the deep, rolling sound and pushing that trademark Jam Thieves flavour – minimal funk with bags of vibe.

Title track “Blue House” sets the tone for the LP, instantly recognisable as a Jam Thieves production with strong, dirty bass and that iconic snare – balancing understated minimal flavour with undeniably upbeat energy from the two-step shuffle.

Featuring collaborations with the prolific NC-17 and newcomers to the label Bennie and Magenta, this varied album represents Jam Thieves’ exploration of the modern, underground sound combined with strong, upfront energy.

Tech elements matched with impressive basslines deliver progressive tracks punctuated with vocal samples and melodic moments of light. Each tune explores a different angle of his new sound, demonstrating his versatility as a producer.

Dispatch Dubplate makes its long-awaited return with the first of six new releases, brought to you by Mako – including a collab with Ben Soundscape.

Setting out to champion the best in unreleased music and those tunes which have been long cherished dubs by prominent figures within the dnb community, Dispatch Dubplate returns after an almost two-year break with this special release from Mako.

Heading up the release is “The Man”, a tune that Ant TC1 has been playing for years and could never put down. One that prompted constant ID requests from DJs and ravers alike, this tune fully represents the Dispatch Dubplate ethos due to the mystery and hype surrounding the track. Originally made as an experiment, with Mako wanting to focus on crusty-sounding production with no mid-bass or prominent fog horns – it’s a back-to-basic track that celebrates the raw energy of drum and bass. After much email wrangling and WhatsApp-based arm-twisting, we’re pleased to finally get this stand-out track out there.

The Dispatch Dubplate series makes vinyl the focus, and each release features an exclusive track that will never be sold digitally. “Mission Critical” champions our favourite format on this release with a loop-based roller dreamt up on a hazy, stoned day. Originally forgotten about by Mako himself, this one was championed by Mikal (and Ant of course) and has now found its way out there thanks to Mik’s love and appreciation.

Completing the release is a collab with Ben Soundscape, Mako’s personal favourite of the three. Utilising some drums from another tune called “Tell Me Something” released by Mako on Metalheadz, the pair set out to make something new. Originally signed by the late, great, Marcus Intalex for Soul:R it was eventually swapped out for a different tune of Mako’s – this makes it another perfect fit for Dispatch Dubplate, given the love and following it created during live sets but never saw the light of day (until now).

A welcome return to this fabled series, watch this space for more.

One I found on an old, very worn out looking (and sounding!) TDK 60 tape when packed up and made the move out of the UK. Did this way back when I was 17 years of age in my 4th ever year of DJ'ing (since starting out); the same year I earned a long term residency at D.O.P.E in Leeds. Good memories 👌

Tried to remaster it the best I can with (hiss reduction and balancing, limiter plug ins etc) but yeah - not easy! Problem was back then I spent every penny I had on records so when it came to recording any mixes the tapes got re-recorded upon re-recorded on week in week out - they soon degraded somewhat on each tape over (not just that I used to re-start studio mixes 6 or 7 times across a day or 2, any one who grew up with this music in that era will most probably relate).

Stand Up

After five years of planning, writing, and refining their sound, London-based production duo Kolectiv are set to release their long-awaited debut drum & bass album, Circadian Rhythms.

The project began in the aftermath of the pandemic, when the pair started setting aside tracks that captured the spirit of a night out at a drum & bass event. Their vision was clear: to create an album that reflects the variety, energy, and progression of a rave – from the first beats that pull you into the closing sounds that carry you home.

“Going out to drum & bass nights, you’d hear so many different flavours across six or seven hours. We wanted the album to follow that same arc – like a circadian rhythm, a natural flow of time, but in this case the cycle of a rave,” Kolectiv explain.

To achieve this, the duo placed a strong emphasis on originality and sound design. Most of the album was built from scratch using their own recorded samples, crafted through sessions with keys, drums, and guitars, and only dipping into external sources when absolutely necessary. Vocal collaborations from PAV4N, Hijak MC, Illmatika and Kerry Donnelly add unique flavour to the project, while carefully placed interludes tie the project together as a complete listening experience.

“This isn’t just a collection of tracks. We wanted it to be a journey – a cradle-to-grave kind of experience – with highs, lows, and moments to breathe.”

The title Circadian Rhythms captures that intention perfectly: an audio diary of a night spent immersed in drum & bass culture, told through Kolectiv’s trademark blend of technical precision and emotional depth.

The project also coincided with a complete studio overhaul, giving Kolectiv a fresh environment to finalize and mix down the record with a renewed sense of clarity and focus.

With Circadian Rhythms, Kolectiv deliver more than an album – they present a story, an atmosphere, and a tribute to the music and culture that shaped them.

This EP is the result of a long-standing creative exchange between ArpXP and Was A Be – a process that unfolded over the years in a spontaneous, unstructured way, capturing the spirit of the moment rather than following a rigid plan.

These tracks are not the pair’s first collaborations; the two artists have been close friends for many years. Each piece was born in different circumstances and under different inspirations, but they evolved gradually, reshaped and fine-tuned through countless tests on the dancefloor.

ArpXP is among the first Italian DJs and producers to break into the international drum & bass circuit. Since the early 2000s, first with his project S.M.O.K.E. and later as a solo artist, he has released on iconic imprints such as Metalheadz and many more. He is also one of the driving forces behind the renowned SUNANDBASS Festival, where he curates the label SUNANDBASS Recordings.

Was A Be, meanwhile, has established himself as one of the most influential figures in the Italian scene. Known for his eclectic and boundary-pushing style, he has released music on some of the most respected labels in the game, including Subtitles, Critical, Shogun, Gutterfunk and Neosignal.

Rift makes a powerful return on Dispatch Limited with the Black & Gold EP, a five-track collection that marks a fresh chapter in his sound. After stepping back from production to reset his creative direction, Rift channels a rawer approach, drawing on the influence of early 2000s drum & bass while weaving in the tense, atmospheric qualities of cinematic scores. The result is an EP that feels both stripped-back and expansive, balancing heavy pressure with eerie, suspenseful sound design.

The project is also shaped by visual art. The title track, “Black & Gold,” was the first piece written for the EP, sparked by inspiration from Bill Elis’ artwork. The visual tone of his work set the foundation not only for the track itself but also for the identity of the full release.

Across the EP, Rift explores themes of unease and intensity. From the brooding atmospheres of “Teardrops” and “Paralysed” to the rolling momentum of “Tremors” and “Sinners,” the journey culminates in the title track’s stark and cinematic presence. Each cut feels deliberately crafted, reflecting both a reverence for drum & bass history and a forward-focused creative vision.

The Black & Gold EP has already gained strong support across the scene, with Philth playing a central role in championing the tracks both in sets and during the production process. Additional support has come from Enta and Cause4Concern, underlining the impact of Rift’s return.

Dug a very old mix out from the archives (one I recorded almost 16 years ago  to be exact across 2 TDK 90 tapes).  It's 3 hours long in total and has been remastered a touch so it sounds pretty clean for a tape recording.

Thought I'd upload this ahead of our old school special event on the 19th of April at Wire in Leeds, UK.  Looking forward to dusting off some timeless wax and playing a heap of classics through Funktion 1.  

I'll be playing a pretty deep one on the night from 10:30PM until 12AM and going back to around 93/1994 upwards.

Ant TC1 - studio mix from the archives (3 hours) - recorded 28th Oct 1997 (extracted from tape)

Ant TC1 along with Hidden Agenda founded Dispatch Recordings back in 2001, Ant originally helped out with the management side of the label before finding his feet within the realms of production; which was a natural progression for him having DJ’d on pirate radio and in clubs from the age of 14 (since 1992).  His first release alongside frequent production partner Stress Level appeared on Dispatch after almost 3 years of hard work getting their collective sound where they felt it needed to be before even thinking about turning on a DAT recorder.  After their first release hit the stores they quickly picked up a wealth of DJ support across their early material and went on to release for a who’s who list of established Drum & Bass record labels including the likes of Renegade, CIA, Advanced, Critical Records Integral, Liquid V, Commercial Suicide, Good Looking Records, Bingo Beats and Samurai Music.

By demand remix work started to feature heavily within their output and the duo went on to remix for the likes of Hidden Agenda, Chris SU, Artificial Intelligence, Kabuki, Total Science, Optical & Ryme Time (Jagged Edge), Atlantic Connection, Tactile & DJ Marky.  Branching out and working with other producers such as Survival, DLR & Philth has only furthered experience Ant’s skills at the controls over the years, Ant has also released his own solo material more recently on top of remixing for the likes of Lomax on Integral Records.  In 2014 Ant realised a lifetime ambition, securing his first ever release for the legendary Metalheadz label “Hungry For Atmosphere” alongside Mako, DLR & Villem with further releases for the label and counting going into 2024.

Ant’s production output has featured on a mass of compilations and mix CD’s compiled by the likes of Shy FX, LTJ Bukem, Total Science, AI, Spectrasoul, Klute and Brian G.  Additionally his work has featured very heavily within the radio shows of Friction, Grooverider, Fabio, Goldie, Bailey & Rene LaVice on their respective BBC Radio 1 slots over the years as well as BBC 1Xtra where Ant once hosted his own one-off 4 hour show, he has since additionally made 2 guest DJ appearances for DJ Friction on his Radio 1 show.  His DJ’ing work has seen him play all over the globe from Adelaide to Los Angeles, from Hong Kong to Sarajevo, Vancouver to Bangkok and last but by no means least regularly UK and EU wide. Additionally for the most part of the decade beyond 2010 Ant also worked as the Artist Manager for both Outlook and Dimensions Festival in Croatia, leading up the booking process, budgets and travel aspects for the festival.

Fast forward through to 2024; Ant is now responsible for the lead label management roles of both Metalheadz & Dispatch Recordings and is based in Thailand, with a purpose built studio room recently finished the plan (alongside managing a mass of planned record label releases) is to get back to focusing on writing music more consistently than he ever has previously.
