This is dedicated to the artists that have influenced my mental health & the Forest friends who have become family⚡️🌲💛

The Solstice (Summer Celebrations Mix) - A New Sound Vol. 12

Hello again, friends 👋 

Last week I lost my best friend, my cat Jasper. He was a spiritual being that more often than not taught me lessons I didn't know I needed. Jasper passed suddenly at 8 years old, while I was away on a solo vacation. The pain was, and is, devastating. Not being able to be with him, or understand what caused his death, has weighed on my heart 💔

Music has always been my best therapy. This new mix is designed after the five stages of grief. It opens with a four-song quartet and closes with a two-song couplet. Each contains the same song twice as a nod to circular thoughts that happen within loss. The songs in between flow from denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. 

This is my poem, my ode, to my little fur guardian. I love you Jasper, my friend 🐈‍⬛️

Introducing a shift from my more thematic 'A New Sound' mixes, the new series 'Prisms' will be (like its namesake) far more focused. Each mix is meant to evoke a blissful auditory experience and flow based on each month's entitled color. Crafted with a keen attention to tonality, consistent sound design, and clarity, while simultaneously highlighting new artists, limiting popular tracks, and overall speed-to-production. 

For this inaugural release, Deep House, being my favorite genre, has been selected as the throughline. Like a prism, each facet is a refracting element from which each progressing track inspires the next, yet in its full design, a single strand of one sound, one color.
