For some dance music fans, Alex Garcia may be their new favourite DJ thanks to his excellent sets at Nitsa, Switch Pocket Club, Esfera Fest and Buena Onda Social Club among many more, including some hazy afterparties. In his own, close-knit world of Discogs fanatics and vinyl purists, he's an admired and established digger and DJ of the Barcelona scene. Over the past 10 years he DJ’d tirelessly and continued to dig forgotten gems that will surprise the most exquisite listeners.

We met Alex through common friends and it was a pure connection from day one. His joyful character, and jokes make him such an special friend, who we admire, so it's a true pleasure presenting Alex as our first guest in our monthly podcast series.

Curated By Time ventures back to the year 2000 with their latest release. It’s a re-issue of Kage’s Meke EP, featuring six distinct cuts of dancefloor-geared musical goodness.

The title track takes centre stage, a thick and chunky tech house number that’s packed full of low-slung, club-ready sub. Safe Passage continues in a similar vein, with rolling bass tones sat beside gritty synth pulses throughout.

We’re then graced with the ethereal sounds of North Star, acting as a gentle interlude before Captivity ups the tempo once more, as whomping synths lead us deep into heads down, hands up territory.

Proceedings then slow down on Return To Ovalau, a penultimate track made up of calming ambient elements. Transporting us to worlds far removed from our own, Rituals then closes proceedings on a similarly dream-like note, rounding off the re-issue in euphoric, club-ready bliss.

After the success of Cosmoba’s debut release ‘Lost In The System’, label owner Kalcagni returns with another 4 tracker of vibey electro and breaks.

Kicking off with ‘Mute Mode’, which channels deep house and acid influences, laced over chunky breaks and a warm analog bass. ‘Up Here (In The Head)’ follows up with another 303 workout, layered with infectious bass hooks and effected synth trills.

On the flip side, ’System Addict’ ups the BPM’s and flexes a more upfront electro groove, with beefy drums, gnarly melodic stabs and a twisted, resonant bassline. Whilst ‘Worn Out Version’ provides a more mellow and alternative vibe to close out the EP, with squelchy modular synth riffs and lush minor chords.
