"Highly regarded around these ways for introducing the likes of Ronce on his Dawn Records label - with whom he collaborated on the ‘Aquatics’ LP - and a string of ace compilation cuts, visual artist-turned-producer Hajj renders his most ephemeral yet affective conception of a negative ecstasy in ‘Drag Me Into the Void’. The three tracks reprise the billowing introspection of his 2020 debut for Brothers From Different Mothers , ‘Dédicace À Personne’ with a subtly refined palette and sound design, dematerialising traces elements of late ‘90s trance and up-to-the-second trap into thee gauziest, gently buoyant ambient space.

The trio of tax slot neatly into YOUTH's cross section of contemporary bedroom/living room/imaginary club space with a breezy mutability. ‘Drag Me Into the Void’ appears in subtly alternate mixes, bathing a trance siren vocal refrain in anaesthetising reverb and vapourized traces of emo-rap drums with a sublime sense of deferred gratification on the original, while nipping/tucking to more elusive allure in the ‘Euphoria’s death edit’. In the middle ‘Reverse Catharsis’ augments the syrupy ambient rap aesthetic with more pronounced woodblock percussion hinting at Burial hitting the downstroke, and lit up with killer, trancey hyper-blooz synth plucks. "

Astraltopia is the third and final compilation in the Topia series, as well as the terminal release in the Astral Plane Recordings catalog. Made up of contributions from longtime APR artists and friends, Astraltopia traverses outgrowths of past label releases, novel sonic formulations and the infra-zones between and underneath extant club sounds. Accompanied by artwork from Sam Meier and mastering by Will Mitchell, the compilation follows 2012’s Heterotopia and 2015’s Psychotropia, both of which preceded the formal inauguration of Astral Plane Recordings. Intimate Publics, Osheyack’s second album, is an homage to Shanghai, the city he has called home since 2012. Over the past ten years the producer has evolved from an avid club-goer to a key member of the vital soundscape that emerged from ALL Club and its predecessor, the now defunct club The Shelter. As hinted by the title, which draws on American social theorist Michael Warner’s work on publics and counterpublics, the album expresses a commitment to mining the utopian potential of club music, forging new worlds and generating future social relations, just as the artist bids farewell to the city at a moment of uncertain transition. While tracks like 'Edging' and 'Thrall' continue to present his signature collage of harder club music, the rest of the record reveals a shift to synthetic approximations of acoustic instruments. 'Still', the central track of the album, is a piece composed almost entirely of samples found on Vocaloid (a vocal synthesizer developed by Yamaha, commonly used to give voice to Japanese virtual idols). While echoing themes explored in previous projects, like the nature of realism and authenticity in a techno-mediated landscape, Intimate Publics is charged with an unexpected emotional candor and vulnerability, unveiling a personal side Osheyack is only beginning to explore.

Your soul wants to show itself in its truest form, strength, perseverance, courage and determination of spirit. In this lifetime your soul needs to cleanse and open its feelings for katharsis.

With the double compilation “Infinite Summer: Ekstase & Fantasi”, katharsis celebrates the return of raves and concerts to society after a long period of pandemic shutdown. A magical summer has passed filled with an incredible pallet of emotional material, ready to be expressed. Therefore, we encouraged a collection of artists we adore to channel their imagination of the greatest way to conclude an endless summer night into a piece of music.

This resulted in a grand assemblage of harmonious manifestations, naturally splitting into two divisions with opposing focuses. On the first part of the duology “Ekstase” coming out on September 20th, we are presented with fourteen tracks for the dancefloor in an array of different styles, ranging everywhere from energetic morning vibes on the junglish opener “Origin, Gate's Dawn” by Yem Gel to hardcore sensations on Mang’s trap-infused roller “Based Halo”.

Copenhagen-based DJ and producer Ingrate is ready with his debut EP ‘With A System In Mind’ out 14th of February via Copenhagen label Anyines.

Having previously roamed the club scene as Kid Antoine, this EP kicks off the moniker Ingrate, presenting a more mysterious and playful world of sonics; radcool speaker stack music, designed “with a system in mind”. The four tracks of the EP continue in the path of the only Ingrate release so far - 2018’s “Crypto Poser/The Enigma" out via Oli XL’s W-I (now Bloom) label. But it’s as if Ingrate is bringing an even quirkier funk to the club this time. Like a 2020 version of Mr. Oizo, if only a little sexier.

The connection to friend and collaborator Oli XL is clear in the sonics of the EP. Both of them masters of teasing the club - making you smile on the dancefloor. Touching on the the banalities and clichés of club music while still seeking new sound territories, the record is a slight tongue-in-cheek, but optimistic take on the dance music scene of the coming decade. Play it in the club, if you dare.

‘Imp’ takes point with it’s babbling percussion, hammering it’s beliefs firmly in steel against a backdrop of falling, redemptive pads. The jealous, hollow sounding cymbal voices of ‘Deceived’ counterpoint their own thoughts of despair. ‘Hoax’ is a sleight of hand spectacle; a svengali trick deck is conjured up and away again, as at the hand of a deception artist in the middle of a thick smoke screen. In the midst of it all, the listener’s only trustworthy companion becomes a mischievous “catch me if you can" synth; teasing, but still leading them, on their way through this world of mirages. 
The EP’s grand finale is ‘Yourself’ - a funhouse of the mind, full of blinding strobes, distorting mirrors and winking figures.

The world is strange, buckle up for the ride.
