For the thirtieth time now, we’ve had the pleasure to be delivering you with music from some of our favorite DJs and up and coming artists. This certainly applies to our next  guest as well, as we once again found ourselves digging until we stumbled upon her.
Without further ado, this is @goldie.palm. A contemporary DJ and radio host based in Leipzig. Where she’s hosting a monthly radio show called "Palm Paradise"  aired on @rblmedia and simultaneously a part of the @vacanzaev collective. She turned in a very well thought through hour, jammed with ear candy. Ranging from house classics, deep house all the way to some dance floor heaters.

Fun fact: when PVC was founded in 2018 the first “Plenum” took place in amorizont's living room. Much has happened since then. He moved to Bremen, started Djing in 2020, is co-founder and part of team.ancora. Influenced by Italo and Dark Disco music, his aim is to combine both impulsive beats and emotional melodies. amorizont never broke his connections to Leipzig. That's why he is super happy to contribute his mix to the PVC series.

@birch1 ist Feat. Fem. Memba und seit 10 Jahren im Biz, u.a. mit Gigs auf der Fusion (Lärz), im Conne Island (Leipzig), im Charles Bronson (Halle) und in der Kulturbar Radio City (Valencia). Genau genommen ist DJ BIRCH schon länger im Biz und zog mit gefälschtem Ausweis und Gang der großen Schwester durch Clubs in Leipzig, Halle und New York. In L.A. funktionierte das nicht so gut, da riefen Sie die Polizei.
Mit 18 war DJ BIRCH zum ersten Mal beim Nachtdigital in Olganitz, was zur jährlichen Routine ihrer Crew wurde. Ein paar Jahre später fing Sie selbst an aufzulegen und ist seit jeher leidenschaftliche DJ. Ihre Musik umfasst eine beeindruckende Bandbreite und lässt wenige Musikrichtungen aus. Aktuell versucht Sie sich an Produktionen mit Ableton, BandLab & ihrer Stimme.
Zudem liegt es ihr am Herzen FLINTA* KünstlerInnen zu unterstützen, bspw. durch DJ-Workshops oder ihre Veranstaltungsreihe SLOTS im Pierre Grasse. 

INTERVIEW
Wie kamst du zum Auflegen?
Ich zieh zwar seit meinem 12. Lebensjahr durch Clubs und hatte einige Freunde (männlich gelesene DJs in meinem sozialen Umfeld), die selbst auflegen, aber es dauerte noch eine ganze Weile. Ich hatte ziemlich Bock drauf, aber durch unsichtbare Türen (komplexes Thema kurzgefasst) habe ich eine bedrückende Zurückgezogenheit entwickelt. Als ich in meiner WG in Lei wohnte, kam ich dann zum Auflegen. Dort hatten wir immer Mal DJ Technik stehen. Damit haben wir viel gezockt, Sets aufgenommen und auf unseren WG Partys aufgelegt. Dann hat es noch bissi Zeit (so 8 Jahre), Selbstreflexion + paar engagierte Leute gebraucht, dass ich mich von dieser Zurückgezogenheit distanzierte. 

Woher kommen deine Inspirationen?
Festivals, Konzerte, Club, Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Magazine, Blogs +andere geliebte Rabbit Holes, Videospiele, Dokumentationen, Friends, spontane Jams, Impro-Raps , Natur, KI-shit..

Wo legst du am liebsten auf?
Lieblingsclubs, -festivals, Wald, Lost Places

Hast du zu deinem Podcast bestimmte Gedanken gehabt?
Gleichberechtigung, aktuelle Lieblingsstücke, Spaß und Anarchie zwischen 70 und 140 bpm 

Was würdest du an der Musikszene gern verändern, wenn du könntest?
An manchen Stellen wünsche ich mir mehr Ernsthaftigkeit (u.a. bei Awareness, Diversität, Respekt, Kommunikation, Arbeitsteilung,…), an anderen Stellen wünsche ich mir mehr Lockerheit (u.a. beim Auftreten und der Inszenierung zentraler AkteurInnen in der Szene).

Was war dein erster Tonträger?

Welche Erinnerungen hast du an deinen Musikunterricht? Würden deine LehrerInnen dich in der Club-Branche verorten?
Puuh, da war einiges los, Grüße gehen an Conny.
Ich hab mal nen Vortrag über Schranz, Chris Liebing und Co. gehalten, mit Hörbeispielen. Das fanden paar MitschülerInnen nicht so cool, gab ne 1 ... Rave forever, haha  
Bei der nächsten Gesangskontrolle gab es keine 1.  Lehrkraft schickte mich nach dem 3. Versuch zurück, weil ich den Text von meiner Hand abgelesen hatte und alle lachen mussten. Sonst haben wir oft Worms gezockt und 1 Lehrkraft sagte mal, ich soll Rapperin werden. Das geh ich auch grad mit paar Leuten an. LehrerInnen mochten mich nicht, schwer zu sagen, wo Sie mich verorten.

 Was wünschst du dir in Zukunft von deinem Publikum, der Clubkultur?
Passt aufeinander auf. Schärft euer Bewusstsein für Diskriminierungsangelegenheiten. Seid respektvoll und tolerant. Bleibt offen – auch wenn ihr schon viel wisst. Sprecht an, was euch auf dem Herzen liegt. Hört nicht auf zu tanzen.

Feat.Fem Podcast 36 /// DJ BIRCH: Pay All My Sisters In Cash

The Italian deejay Ansonica has been deeply in love with disco music since she was a young child, and her mother's passion for Italo disco had a great influence on her. For years, she worked as a DJ host and PR at Ribbon Club Culture in central Italy until she moved to Berlin in 2015. It was then that Ansonica made the decision to not just stay in the background and began to create her own unique, colorful and authentic style of music which combines Hi-NRG disco with various house and electronic vibes. She has since played in various clubs around Berlin, including Kitkat, Bulbul, Klunkerkranich, Oxi, and Ava Club with the Disco Bizarre and Toytonics crews. Ansonica's mission is to make disco glamorous and exciting again and bring dancers on an Italian-influenced journey of fun, sweat and joy. In 2019, she formed HABITAT, a collective of music enthusiasts whose aim is to create a space for people to come together, experience the music, and feel like they belong.
