This is the second volume of the compendium of artists connected through their dark sounds called "Atlas of Penance". Its main objective is showcasing the different explorations of occult aesthetics from around the world.
The EP opens the A side with a gloomy, feet-dragging, post-punk track by Hanging Freud, goes to a dream-like techno-ebm rave with Kenny Campbell and finishes this side with an industrial infused half tecnho/half electro track of Syndikat Kommando 98, a project by Viktor Lenis (Cute Heels, Modernista).
The B side is no less stronger, starting with a straight up techno banger by the prolific producer Drvg Cvltvre, moving on to a genre defying track filled with experimental elements fuelled with modular sythesis and harsh kicks by Black Potion, and ending the EP with an anxiety inducing dark ambient track by Dim Garden.

The Nothing Was There Edit Is an edit of the original industrial track from the legendary project  'Tone Set' that combines most devilish synth melodies with heavy bass and percussion from the original cut inside one more playable edit.

The Edit was made some time ago, this track has 2 official edits, one made by the label released with their box version of Cal Ranch's EP, and a long original version by the artist, we like both but we figured out we could have one edit with our favourite moments of this piece, i made it to be played in some concerts and now I'm sharing here in the cloud.

Soil Records is currently one of the most reliable sources for an important part of the current of dark electronic music, of the scene that derives from post-punk and that has been sectioned into many different musical styles. There is nothing to object about the evolution of this label, in its usual way of operating we distinguish that it values established artists and new projects with hardly any projection in the same way, and many of us take advantage of this philosophy, from media like this one to other labels that are looking for new talents. It is also worth noting that the label's record has expanded during these 5 years, as shown in the commemorative album of this fifth anniversary.

Soil Records celebrates five years of history with a big bet. We already know the magnitude of the Spanish label's anniversary, this time they have prepared a massive album with 50 tracks from different authors divided into five CDs of 10 tracks each. In this post we explore the tracks from the first CD.

The first CD opens with Besiegers by Be the Hammer & John 3:16, an alliance we already enjoyed last year with Swarm, an album released on the Industrial Complexx label, and who return again with a track that, as they themselves express, is a sonic nightmare, the score of a horror film that doesn't exist. Ih Tu mir Was is the work of Cosey Mueller, post punk and synthwave by a new generation artist who also forms, or has formed part of, Glaas and Das Das Das, two bands with a somewhat harder oriented sound. Ramos Dual & Yul Navarro are two Spanish artists who have been connected for some years now and have a great stage presence to back them up, and they prove it with a kind of turn towards electronic punk with "Igual mi corazón puede volverse Oscuro". Alexander Leonard Donat is a consolidated artist and also very committed to multiple projects, each one specialising in a very specific sound, with Vlimmer he develops post-punk and darkwave, and good proof of this is Rückflut, a track that perfectly exemplifies this mixture of styles and also places the listener in an organic world in which the use of electronic textures is more discreet. EGZOTIKKA is the solo project of Lithuanian artist Osvaldas Bertašius, Kad Nesinoretu is his contribution to this album, a track that well defines his inclination towards musical genres such as coldwave.

From Mexico, El Ojo y La Navaja explores with Repulsión the minimalist sound that brings a simple rhythmic structure, an unvarying bass sequence, two simple melodies and a voice with a lo-fi treatment. Seven Sins is the first project from this roster of artists that we have no information about, however, his contribution to this album is formidable, Breaking is a groovy track with a well-developed rhythmic design, multiple vocals and unique charisma. Facets is a short lived but experienced artist currently based in New York and his track Astrology is an amalgamation of influences, although it can be defined as slow techno with an expansive rhythmic feel. Flashes of Darkness is the track by Spanish producer Asymetric80, a work with a dense harmonic sound in which the synthesised lines become more prominent. The cut that closes the first CD is the work of Ukrainian Ginger Snap5, Whitey shows an unusual energy, explosive synthesizers that accompany the vocals of Roman Soroka, the only current member of this project.

Greek DIY label DYSTATIK (@dystatik), run by Athenian DJ/producer dry_feel (@dry_feel), is pleased to announce the second personal album of Dystatik's catalog and the last for the season, by Berlin-based, Moscow-bred DJ-Producer and Radiation label owner Arpatronic(@arpatronic). 
After a short pause and the exploration of the vastness of underground Berlin and the beauty of bourgeois Paris, which inspired his album, Arpatronic returns with his recognizable Electro sound. The album delivers six Electro tracks full of dark elements and atmospheres, produced by the legendary 808 sound, the groovy bass of the Ms20 and the beautiful Jupiter 8 is all you need to know about this release.

Machine Cult is an electronic music platform hosted by Déandrah and Garçon Taupe. Functions on one side as a record label. On the other, an event series showcasing a part of what the local and international scene the Netherlands has to offer. Edition one is taking place in OT301 (Amsterdam) on the 25th of November.

Scouring from the surfaces of Amsterdam and Rotterdam comes out 6 original tracks composed by the following artists. 

Déandrah (AMS), Garçon Taupe (AMS), marienus (RTM), MoodSwings (AMS), The Spy (AMS) and xceptor (RTM).

In a world where we have too many choices, but not enough guts to pursue any of them, motivational speaking and councillors become the next billionaires, to inject the fearful with confidence so that they may excel at their passion and make the world a better place by self adoration, collaboration and not competition.

Intricacies of noise, self-development of taste and homages to  past times, a compilation of works from new upcomers and scene veterans. Having captured the face of a pseudo-mentalist, these artists have noted the effect of the long exposure to sound that may have affected their biomechanical characteristics. 

For a while, you will discover new things, and it is all so exciting and fresh, because this altered state gives you new perception, in and hindsight.  Music Theory, out of all things, can also have some pretty nasty effects on your body. All of it can mean you can start suffering long before you become a musician.

You’ll probably start looking ill, losing weight and feeling like you might deserve it.You’ll begin to play instruments not to get high anymore, but only because that is your new standardised norm. You simply don’t know what else to do. As you lose control of your body’s health you could eventually lose control over your mind too. 

Until  one day you’ll wake up knowing that, instead of continuing investing yourself in your instruments, they slowly become controlling towards you. So, if a friend invites you to a jam session, use your brain, while you still can. And just, say, yes.
