Diagnostic and Æthereal Arthropod are two of the main players in the contemporary industrial, experimental, and noise scene in Europe, the former being one of the projects of the Belgian sound/graphic designer Jan Robbe (UndaCova, Atomhead, Erratic), and the latter being the moniker of the Spanish musician Nestor Peixoto Aballe, who responsible is for some of the harshest outings in the post-club community such as the releases on Genot Centre, Quantum Natives, and many more.

Their artistic relationship dates back to at least 2016 when Nestor's Hydra's Amaranthine Invigoration two-tracker saw the light on Entity Records, an mp3/ogg netlabel co-founded by Robbe together with Nico De Gols that was born on the ashes of the previous incarnation Tinnitus (reportedly dead in 2003 because of a server problem). Three years later, in May 2019, the two musicians spent a few days together at Robbe's place in Deinze, Belgium that ended up in several minutes of collaborative material which has since then been shaped up in their first record together, called RELIC and out on Friday, May 7th (#BANDCAMPFRIDAY!) on the artists' Bandcamp pages.

Mastered by GianMaria Dell'Aera at Dadub Studio, RELIC collects the results of multiple sessions of modular improvs and vocal fx recording that have been manipulated over the course of the next two years in the shape of a chimeric, alien flow of sound, all wrapped up into 5 track with ominous titles such as Eternal Return of the Derelict Species, The Detrimental Axis of Brutalism, etc. The record lives out of the overlap between Robbe's of radical, harsh industrial music and Nestor's beastly, grinding vocal tracks. As reported by the authors themselves, the work has been shaped around the envisioning of a long-lost, advanced extraterrestrial civilization destroyed by the magnitude of an extinction-level event, and the effects of said terror on the inner functioning of the few survivors' psyches.

Diagnostic and Æthereal Arthropod indulge in the evocation of obscure back-to-primitiveness rituals by means of guttural vocals, and oscillating infra-bass tides while simultaneously infiltrating into the mangy remainings of the inhabitants' sense of being via piercing, blade-sharp noise bursts. Today, we're glad to present you a 5-minutes excerpt out of the EP, namely the third piece called PSXLM (Psalms to the Forgotten), which represents the no-return point inside the alien ceremony that will take you to decaying landscapes of distorted fear.

Buenos Aires-born producer Pablo Betas — known as Bungalovv — celebrates his return to the Infinite Machine family with the release of the enchanting debut album, Donde Hubo Fuego.

Proceeding his 2017 EP ‘Luz Mala‘, which was coined by THE FADER as 'an unlikely entente between the sinister and the seductive', his reappearance to the imprint is analogous to this. Currently residing in Berlin, Bungalovv is also a founding member of TRRUENO, a collective and label that was born in Buenos Aires, united by new technologies as a resource and means to expand the spectrum of aesthetic possibilities in electronic, experimental, performance and audiovisual scenes.

Pulling inspiration from a diverse appetite comprised of dembow, obscure club experiments and animalistic synthesis, Bungalovv also utilises foley recordings exceptionally across the ten tracks. Flickers of the album opener ‘Bandera Robada’, are a cautionary suggestion of what lies ahead. And with antagonistic titles like ‘Soil Taste’ shaped from stabbing timbres and unpredictable time signatures like an Omni-angular sonic attack, you get pulled into a sinful parallel universe as the LP progresses. Cries of distortion, time-stretched cinematic doom, and unquantised ASMR excerpts are glued together like a tapestry, laying among devastating blows that meteor into a landing pad of extraordinary composition.

Complimentary of his mind-bending DIY live performance, the album is beautifully balanced, humanised, mechanical and elegant. Releasing in late April, this is by far Bungalovv's most refined and developed work to date.

Rian Treanor returns to Planet Mu for his second album "File Under UK Metaplasm".

In 2018, Treanor left his home of Rotherham, a working class town in the North of England not far from rave nexus Sheffield, and headed to Uganda. He'd been booked to perform at Nyege Nyege festival, a mythical event that takes place on the shores of Lake Victoria in Jinja once a year. After nearly a week of almost non-stop syncopated bass, Treanor drove to the country's capital city Kampala to produce music for a month at the Nyege Nyege's Boutique Studio - an incubator that serves as a central hub for the record label and its many harmonic ventures.

A week later, while he was performing at Hollywood, the tiny dive bar that housed the Nyege Nyege crew's first events, Treanor began to think differently about the sound he'd been developing since 2015's acclaimed "A Rational Tangle". "Everyone was still beaming after the festival, full of energy and wanting it raw and fast," he explains. Treanor had been working on tracks with Acholi fiddle player Ocen James, and absorbing sounds from the other producers at the studio like Tanzania's Jay Mitta and Sisso and Glasgow experimental duo The Modern Institute. The result was a jerky blend of hybridized footwork and singeli (Tanzania's own lightning-fast dance sound) that clocked in at a rapid 200bpm. "I played a Jlin track at the wrong speed and it was about 225bpm," he admits. "But it sounded really good so I went with it. People were going mental, it was so much fun."

Arriving home, he used this experience to inspire a new chapter in his production process. Inspired by the singeli production process, he focused on energy, building tracks and exploring urgency as the guiding method. Over the course of the year Treanor perfected these ideas, building from raw ideas and eventually focusing on engineering the physicality of the sound. And at the end of 2019 he had the opportunity to tour Japan, where he was able to work out the finishing touches performing on some of the world's best soundsystems.

This polarity - the enigmatic, sweaty energy of singeli juxtaposed with slick, high-def bass weight - sits at the centre of "File Under UK Metaplasm", Treanor's second full-length. Opening track 'Hypnic Jerks' is maybe the perfect example of this, with crinkled percussive loops cut through by machine-gun kicks and acidic wobbles. Elsewhere, 'Vacuum Angle' takes Sheffield's Warp-ed legacy and brings it crashing into the future, with rhythms collapsing into static and noise but never deconstructing or losing the flow. 'Debouncing' meanwhile folds gliding square synths into rattling dancehall kicks, joining the dots between SND, Equiknoxx, Wiley and MCZO & Duke with a neon Sharpie.

"It's using all those formulaic dance structures but just slightly mangled or messed up," he says. "I'm still focused on making functioning dance music for clubs, but I'm really interested in how far you push that before it's just like - no."
