i have always been intrigued by the music of stella and poka michelsen. to me, it is some of the most complex,
complicated, intelligent music ever made. levels and levels of beats; noize; ambiance; abstraction; is built on
top of each other. they're so far away from the "dumb gabber" and "speedcore" most people think of when the word'hardcore' is mentioned. is this hardcore? is that even techno? it is more of art - real art, abstract, maybe it would belong more to gallery, a museum, than to a party were people dance - if museums wouldn't be so boring!
i can't find many artists that could compare to this. the sheer level of complexity is overwhelming. some of the best somatic responses productions could compare - in complexity and experimentation of sounds. or the most intricate construction of underground PCP via acardipane. yet, maybe it is not right to compare this music - as it plays in its own universe. frantic noise, shrill, alien screams - often driven home by a powerful bassdrum, and killer punctured beats and hits. for some reason, i never compared this so much with other music, but to other forms of art, movies, pictures. this would fit well to dystopian cyberpunk picture, an onslaught of screeching robots pacing through a destroyed, wrecked industrial wasteland. 
there are so many things i am missing in most hardcore that are in michelsen's productions; changes of beats, tempo, complex trackstructures with many twists, beginnings, endings, turn-arounds. lengthy intros of weird noises, laughter, ambient drones. some michelsen records fetch high sums at collectors at this time, and rightfully so.
while many other of their contempary artists around their decades became quite "famous" by now, known also to the dreaded "gabber" and "breakcore" crowd, the michelsen sisters still seem to be kind of a secret hint, with a cult following. yet, they are already legends, in their regard, in their own way.

For our next addition to the Drone family, we’re truly proud we got this Techno Minded Hero.

Why ? Well, He got 60+ Release’s on many respected labels like Shadow Story, Ad Noiseam, Mord Records, Inner Surface Music, Darkfloor Sound, Combat Recordings, Overdraw, Photon Emissions, RDL47 Records, Duality, Violet Poison and more under many different aliases as Ontal with Darko Kolar, Impulse Controls with Blush Response, Figure-Ground with Alexander Church of Dronelock, Boris Noiz, Lost in the Sound.

He recently moved to New York to focus on his new project under his own name. With this project, he already got a well-received EP on New York Trax, the leading track titled "The Oven", with its dirty funk and relentless groove it’s a serious candidate for an all-time classic. And as the skillful DJ, he is, he is already racking up some gig’s in New York scene with one upcoming this Friday at The Black Hole in The Gate, New York.

Connecting the dots between the past and present, he seems to have a clear vision of what the future of electronic music should be, and we are very happy to have him on the Drone Podcast No.075: Boris Brenecki

Biography
BORIS BRENECKI (also known as Ontal, Impulse Controls, Figure-Ground, Boris Noiz, Lost in the Sound)

With a total of 67 releases at the age of 30, Boris is one of the scene’s most knowledgeable young producers who has already left a mark on almost all of electronic music genres. As Ontal and Impulse Controls (the first with Darko Kolar and the latter with Blush Response), Boris produces an apocalyptic fusion of industrial and techno, with seminal releases on labels such as Mord, Noiztank, Amok Tapes, Ad Noiseam, Inner Surface Music and more. Figure-Ground, Boris’s project with Alexander Church of Dronelock, is an experimental take on IDM and breakbeat. Boris Noiz, the currently defunct alias under which he released his very first records on Yellow Machines and Combat Recordings to name a few, is well-known for twisted future hardcore rinse outs, orchestration and dextrous edits in an off-beat techno, breakbeat and electro setting. Finally, Lost in the Sound is Boris’ vision of oldschool house, it explores his love of jacking acid and the the deeper reflective sounds of Detroit and Chicago. As Boris Brenecki, he released the well-received EP on New York Trax, the leading track titled “The Oven”, with its dirty funk and relentless groove, is a serious candidate for an all-time classic. A talented and thoughtful producer and a skillful DJ, Boris defeats the notion that artists should stick to one idea or concept. Connecting the dots between the past and present, he seems to have a clear vision on what the future of electronic music should be. In conclusion, Boris is the most amazing recruit the New York scene could ever get.
