"Senses" is the new release from Galway musician Aonghus Reidy. An instrumental bass-led composition featuring dark atmospheres inspired by trawls through underground 1980s cassette releases. Ethereal guitar melodies set against deep bass tones and minimal drum machine patterns, with organ harmonies that rise out as the track progresses towards its conclusion.

Senses

'Visitor' is the second release of 2025 from Aonghus Reidy. Based on a sample of an old opera recording from 1913, it takes this fragmented Verdi vocal melody and transforms it into something new. The ghostly reverberated vocal line echoes over a deep bass melody, setting the distant strangeness of early 20th century recordings against the immediacy of present day sound.

Senots Maerd

Electroacoustic composition written in 2007 when living in Maynooth. The composition has three parts, the first featuring processed tap water sounds, the second with processed environmental sounds recorded through my window. In the third section, the sounds are processed more intensely so that only traces of the original remain.

Surroundings

Electroacoustic composition for processed pitch pipe sounds. Written in Maynooth in 2007. The sounds are processed through shifting delay times to give the illusion of movement. Inspired by the acoustic phenomenon of Doppler effect, where moving sounds seem to change in pitch.
