First full release for 2019 coming in hot! I've been in the process of learning a new DAW which has really expanded my pallet for sound design and composition. This EP is full of pretty wild tracks that are indicative of a break from my past work. I'm focusing on exploring my own path as opposed to following in the footsteps of my idols. - About this remix -

This remix was all about taking elements from the original and turning them into something sonically different while retaining the core vibe. I usually do the opposite with remixes but I loved the emotion that the original track had so I added field recordings I’ve made over the last few years, revoiced the chords, and thrown in some booty movin bass lines.

- What Inspired you -

A few of the artists who inspired me through writing this remix were Bonobo, Kodak to Graph, Koan Sound, and Big Chocolate. When I was first approached to do a remix for Disguised Collective, God Complex stood out to me right away. I loved the chord progression, vocal chops, and percussion. I was working on a half time Koan Sound-esque remix of the track but I started to lose a vision for what to add. I had a solid foundation but the track wasn’t coming together as I hoped. Since coming back from Shambhala this year, I’ve been on a huge house kick. I was listening to the WIP I had for this remix post Shambs, and I made a copy of the Ableton session, changed the bpm down from 155 to 126, silenced the drums and the more out there sound design bits I had been adding, and that became the bedrock for the new direction I took the remix. Moral of the story, don’t be afraid to copy something you are stuck on and try taking it in a completely different direction.

I'm so excited to finally be releasing this track! The writing process for this EP has been a rollercoaster. So many ups and downs writing, reflecting, and rewriting. I got to practice an awful lot of patience and focus, and in the end, I believe that the extra attention to detail has really paid off.
