Blur Mode EP is another Highway Records debut. This time it comes from Moscow-based producer Wyro, who made an amazing remix for Dave Pad previously. EP includes 4 original tracks, one of them is collaboration between Wyro and famous vocalist and producer Robert Manos, known for his collabs with Seba, Synkro and Alexi Delano.

[A] CELO - Critical:
Opening the 2 track release from CELO is Critical, a heavy hitting Drum & Bass roller fusing hard drums, with a bass line fuelled by ripping FM synths and an effortlessly melodic hook. The intro draws you in through the use of eerie pads and a pitched up break, before introducing the subtle melodic touches. During the break down and emerging from the background come hints of that ripping bass line before a powerful drop with the straight up and forceful tech step beat. The track progresses with a series of twisted bass lines supported by an intense synth, so make sure you expect a generous helping of real intensity, with this high energy track.

[B] CELO - Fall 
Fall was inspired by it's Transatlantic counter part autumn, where the darkness begins to slowly settle in, but is still reminiscent of the light and warmth of summer. A Liquid Drum & Bass track allowing CELO to demonstrate his love for bass lines that are full of warm rich tones, but still have an edge of darkness, coming together to produce his characteristic sound. Beginning with simple yet delicate piano notes and floating pads to enhance the atmospheric backdrop, with the beats dictating the tempo of the track and the complimentary warm and expansive bass line, expertly adding to the overriding emotions. As the track progresses as does the intensity with a wave of rolling stuttering amen breaks, to cement this track as a true Liquid DnB roller.

Hyperactivity music is a record label based out of Marseille and their commitment to a cutting edge approach to releasing records can be seen throughout their roster. Never a label to dilute their sound, they’ve paved the way for many producers who persist in pushing their music against the more mainstream appeal of bigger imprints. And forthcoming from Hyperactivity is an eight track EP which provides a space for their slickest beats to date, showcasing brand new tracks from artists both old and new. Whether it’s the sultry sonics of Zero T, or EiZO’s expert minimalism, Hyperactivity caters to a range of tastes and these are explored throughout ‘Polychrome’.

Beginning ‘Polychrome’ is Gunston’s separate offering ‘Thing Changes’, which delicately opens the release with tinkering percussive elements and shivering hi-hats.

Skankandbass is dedicated towards the official promotion of record labels and artists in the world of drum & bass music. Since inception in 2010, Skankandbass has unearthed some of the freshest talents in the scene and has opened many doors for unsigned artists. Now, a few years in to the game, Skankandbass decides to take on the role of a record label to put together a series of free download singles which aims to further help spread the work of the best unsigned, newcomer artists who deserve more recognition.

Almost a year ago since they met in a studio for the first time, fresh production duo, PmdR & Spill, represent a connection between the Czech and Slovak drum & bass scene. Marky is famously proud of his Brazilian roots, but even without knowing his background you could likely get some idea from the style of drum & bass he plays. Somehow his sound has always channelled the sun of his native South America both in the records he plays and the gems he’s signed to his label Innerground. 

There are a number of other traits that have made Marky’s sets so distinctive, from his infectious charisma, to his inexplicable scratching skills. He’s demonstrated this time and again in Farringdon, with his long-running Marky & Friends night among one of FABRICLIVE’s best-loved residencies. 

This Friday we’re pleased to welcome Marky back after a whole two years, and to mark the occasion we got hold of him for a one-off mix and interview ahead of the weekend. He delivered a mix of typically breezy rollers and told us what we can expect from his extended 2-hour set in just a few days’ time.
