The Name of the group is GHEMMA

The name originated from the Swahili word ‘kugema’ which means tapping palm wine from the coconut tree. We chose the name from the uses of the coconut tree & it also symbolises our origin from the Coast of Kenya.

Our genre of music is a mixture of afro fusion, funk, reggae etc. we call it “the ghemma” style of music. The major influence of our music is Life experiences. All our songs are stories about different aspects of life. The main theme of our songs is general life experience
