A manic mix built on a cheesy popular local DJ Sample "wapi nduru?”, which is Kiswahili equivalent of "let me hear you scream!”. Oddly brilliant and damn addictive. 

Raph is a Nairobi-based producer/DJ, constantly testing the boundaries of what’s acceptable/dope. Inspired by the great Frank Odoi and dedicated to all Kenyan comics, NAICCON 2021 (World’s Loudest Library) and Mutendei Writes. Akokhan is an engrossing and spellbinding comic story from Frank Odoi that imaginatively and profoundly interrogates the age-old questions of good and evil, the dark side and the good side. Something that Raph has perfectly reflected musically in the following mix, surfing between chaos and harmony, love and evil. 

Definitely, a dance between hell and heaven.

Born in France, but now based in Berlin, ANGEL (@lebaillyangel) has been traveling across the planet in search of deep sounds and music that match her vision of aesthetics. Far are the times in London where the young party promoter first fell in love with electronic music. Between Japan and Bali, and now back to Europe, ANGEL has been working on ambient and dub techno music since a while, and is currently preparing a new EP. Last year, her single Coincidence/ Ambivalence (@sinelangrec) was well received while she produced a few podcasts for various radios. Also a journalist, ANGEL regularly interviews artists and DJs and producers for MAGNETIC, BPM Supreme and DJ Tech Tools.

Have you ever gone outside on a cloudy day and smelled that it was going to rain? Or, after a rainstorm, noticed that there was a certain smell in the air? Childhood memories come to mind when playing in the puddles of water was the best moment of the day. It was the time when the smell of earth meant the onset of a joyous season.

Petrichor is the term given to that unique scent following a rain shower – when the world seems to sigh with pleasure, and we, unconsciously perhaps, breathe in a little more deeply, savouring the smells in return.

Francesco Piunti is the man behind @deepbreakfastseries, a brilliant and touchfull mix series focused on ambient sounds. Our maximum true respect for the dedication, knowledge and excellent way of doing. Returning to the term petrichor, Francesco gives us a short poem from Leah Snyder that goes like this:

“I step outside, the sky above gray as slate
petrichor seeping up through the grass,
engulfing my state of mind as i inhale
and guiding me into a place of hushed abstraction”.

Definitely, petrichor is more than just a happy smell. It is a promise of abundance, a welcome chance of survival and shelter, and a hope that the merry childhood days will be back again.

We are pleased to welcome Nina (alias иιиιт'α) based near Denver. She experienced the age of the early 90s rave scene and has been  influenced by the deep and atmospheric sounds of Techno and most things unconventional. Although she can at times go dark and heavy, here she tends to draw a travel with passages of polyrhythmic sounds, D&B, UK breaks, shamanic vocals…  Her inspiration is drawing from older tracks of her collection and eclectic sounds with wide variation of Bpm and energy.

David is a die-hard record collector who has been playing them around the North of Spain and Europe for more than 15 years now. Since three years ago he's more focused on Escala de Grisos, his monthly radio show on a local station, where he plays and discuss about ambient, techno and anything in between as well as making some interviews.

David has recorded the following mix with that feeling of knowing that something huge is about to change in his life, just like what happened at .apart in a way. Hence the name translated into Catalan :)

A magnificent true personal musical journey where he captures with great sense and extreme delicacy a long list of antonyms such as fear-hope, uncertainty-desire…

To sum up overall, David shares the following poem:

As if it were a migratory journey, we move away voluntarily or forced, unfortunately some, from a cold and normally noisy city full of hectic lives and people with a thirst for power. A walk towards nature/forest where human voices cease to exist to transform into animal sounds causing a feeling of refuge and closeness. We leave behind a world of concrete and welcome the sounds of mother earth.

Milan native Matteo, a clearly devotee of nature, investigates sound with high enthusiansm and dedication. He wonderfully creates a mellow amalgam of layers using over-reverberated synths, field recordings, and self-created samples. Atoloi is constantly searching for another dephts in which the listener can get lost while getting submerged by heavy-grained noises and evocative instrumental compositions.

Matteo has left us the following text: “I tried to represent this slow march in a real and, at the same time, emotional forest, in which memories and the outer cosmos merge into a unique and cathartic experience.

A pleasant stroll through the forests of Ego. “A universe born from the perfect union between the external environment and the inmost emotional unconscious”.

.CHPTR044 ‘Due passi tra le foreste dell'Io’ | Atoloi

Aboard a spaceship lined from top to bottom with neon lights and made of sound remnants, noises, samples, field recordings and modular synthesizers; we're heading somewhere where we're just pure spectators. During the trip piloted by Mocrobo, a rich auditory landscape full of magnificent sound waves of different shapes/sizes can be seen/heard through the ship's windows. Melodic and harmonic at times but loud and terrifying at others. Distant voices and modules weaving a varied network of shots that cover styles such as pop, ambient, noise or trip hop.

Victor is an experimental musical artist from Jaén (Spain) who is difficult to classify and comes from the most extreme confines of metal. His creations took a radical turn towards the electronic field attracted by the great variety of nuances and possibilities that exist in the synthesis of sound and experimentation with classical processed instruments.

Victor reminds us that ‘if for someone being locked up at home is a better idea than going out for fresh air, perhaps a Lyra 8 could become a great friend’.
