The History: Emerging out of Oldominion, one of the most prominent crews to represent out of the Northwest, Boom Bap Project had a distinct musical goal in mind. The plan was revealed in the group's name –hard beats and hard rhymes– a.k.a that good ole Boom Bap. Armed with strong Hip Hop sensibilities, unbreakable confidence, and lyrics primed to hit you directly in the head, Nightclubberlang (a.k.a Karim) and Destro Destructo attack the mic relentlessly, as their vocals ride atop hard-hitting production from an accomplished line-up of beat-makers; Jake One, Vitamin D, Bean One, Jumbo The Garbageman (of Lifesavas), Snafu, Sayeed, DJ Scene, and Mr. Hill. The album is enhanced by scratch work for DJ Scene, as well as some quality guest appearances from Gift Of Gab (Blackalicious), Rakaa Iriscience (Dilated Peoples), DJ Vin Roc, The Lifesavas, Grayskul, Snafu, and Choklate. Apathy and O.C.’s collaborative LP may be brimming with slick talk, crazy wordplay, and raw beats, but the duo dials it back considerably on “Globetrotters” to deliver a personal anthem to life on the road.

Serving as the final leak off 'Perestroika,' the single offers a glimpse behind the (iron) curtain and reveals what it’s like to be a independent, hard-working Hip-Hop artist in 2017. For both Ap and O.C., it’s a life full of ups and downs that leads to sleepless nights, bad food, and missed loved ones.

That all being said, it’s also a life that they’re forever grateful for, because they love giving back to their fans worldwide who continue to support their careers. As guest singer Jus Cuz drives home on the hook, these two underground rap legends keep pushing themselves to their physical and mental limits for “you.” It’s all soundtracked by the production talents of ILLINFORMED, whose work serves as the perfect album closer that’s both catchy, and thoughtful.

Apathy connects with two living Hip-Hop legends on “I Keep On,” which boasts towering bars from Pharoahe Monch with soulful, neck-snapping production supplied by The Chocolate Boy Wonder, Pete Rock.

The lyrically astute track follows the otherworldly “Alien Weaponry,” which features Ap flexing braggadocious raps over a sinister Nottz’ banger. But on “I Keep On,” the Connecticut emcee is a bit more laid-back and in the pocket as he trades rhymes with every rapper’s favorite rapper, Pharoahe Monch.

And you can definitely count Apathy among those apostles, because the Demigodz rapper revealed in a Facebook Q&A in 2017 that no other emcee influenced his style more than Monch. And if that influence wasn’t clear before, you can absolutely hear it on “I Keep On,” particularly when the two share the final verse and flaunt some straight-up bananas wordplay and flows. If ever there was a track that younger rappers should listen to, it’s this one.

“I Keep On” is the first instant grat track available for download off the iTunes’ pre-order for, 'The Widow’s Son.' In addition to Pharoahe Monch, Pete Rock and Nottz, the 14 track LP also includes features and production from the  likes of M.O.P., Celph Titled, Diabolic, Buckwild, and Stu Bangas, as well as Ap himself who handles a chunk of the album’s production.
