Careful What You Wish For

Ape club started in autumn 2011 and plays acoustic jazz at the crossroads of bop and early free jazz, spiced with pop structures, folk music and afrobeat. The band consists of Kasper Værnes on saxophone, Øyvind Brække on trombone, Julius Lind on bass and Erik Nylander on drums.
The members which have background from the jazz conservatory in Trondheim and the academy of Oslo is also known from constellations like Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, The Source, Action & Tension & Space and Ola Kvernberg trio. Their first album was released in april 2013 and got great reviews:

The music of Ape Club is rooted in one of the glorious eras of jazz, but has a modern, open and personal sound signature. With playful interaction, perceptive presence, energy and focused listening the band creates catchy tunes and moods to dive into. The songs which are written by Julius Lind is rhythmically varied and focus a lot on the melody.
