DJ Shadow, widely acknowledged as a crucial figure in the development of experimental, instrumental hip-hop, has returned with ‘The Mountain Will Fall’ via Mass Appeal Records [and Believe Digital in France], his first full length release since 2011. The 12-track album finds DJ Shadow exploring new realms in addition to the deep samples and kinetic soundscapes that helped to launch his career 20 years ago. On ‘The Mountain Will Fall’ he’s shifted further toward original composition, a vast experimentation of beats and textures, synthesizers and live instruments including horns and woodwinds. The album features Run The Jewels, Nils Frahm, Matthew Halsall, Ernie Fresh and more.

Serpent Medicine bestows the power to transmute the self, to "shed the skin" of what no longer serves us and to fuse layers of our reality into wholeness.  Through the process of life we become fragmented, often letting parts of ourselves fall dormant as we deal with the necessities of survival.  When our "self" is fragmented, our power is fragmented and we may suffer from scattered thinking, lack of energy, poor timing or inability to move forward.  Even when the focus has been on spiritual grown or healing there are often aspects of the self which must be reintegrated to bring the whole self in alignment.   The mantra of the Serpent Medicine track here as vocalized by Amrita inspires movement to invoke your self to shed your skin and become whole again.

The healing power of the Mahamrityunjaya mantra is an a prayer to the ancient Hindu deities It is currently being chanted in the Satyananda ashrams and yoga centres throughout India and the world at the same time every week. People who are facing illness, obstacles, tragedy or crisis in their lives, and who cannot be physically present during the chanting, can give their names for inclusion in the chanting by phone or letter. Many people have been helped through difficult times in this way, even though they are not physically present, the power of the Mahamrityunjaya mantra is so great.

The primal creative force behind APE projects is producer Muskat, founding member and drummer of Balkan Beat Box, as well as one of Israel's leading music producers. Muskat's production credits outside of BBB include Asaf Avidan's last two albums, Different Pulses and Gold Shadow, J.U.F. (Gogol Bordello), Firewater, and much more.

The difference between APE Records and traditional labels is they don't release albums – only singles.

Songs are created spontaneously in the studio by artist and producer, with nothing prepared in advance, which reflects Muskat's unorthodox and unconventional methods. "Since the singles are stand-alone, it gives us the freedom to go into uncharted territory," Muskat explains. "We want to surprise ourselves, and the listener. That's the APE sound!"
