I make music for my own enjoyment. I like to control every aspect of the creative process, which is why I have never collaborated with anyone until now. However, as soon as I heard “The Piece of Wild Things” by Classical Glass, inspired by the poem of the same name by American author Wendall Berry, I imagined a voice on top of it. Philip kindly agreed to give it a try, even though the piece wasn't intended to be sung, and here's the result.

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

Je fais de la musique pour mon plaisir. J'aime bien tout maîtriser dans le processus créatif, c'est pourquoi je n'ai jamais fait de collaboration. Pourtant dès que j'ai entendu "The Piece of Wild Things" de Classical Glass inspiré du poème du même nom de l'américain Wendall Berry, j'ai imaginé une voix dessus. Philip s'est gentiment prêté au jeu même si ce morceau n'avait pas été imaginé pour un chant, et voici le résultat.

Quand le désespoir pour le monde grandit en moi
et que je me réveille la nuit au moindre bruit,
craignant ce que ma vie et celle de mes enfants pourraient devenir,
je vais m'allonger là où le canard sauvage
repose dans toute sa beauté sur l'eau, et où le grand héron se nourrit.
Je viens dans la paix des choses sauvages
qui ne surchargent pas leur vie de préoccupations
ou de chagrin. Je viens dans la présence de l'eau calme.
Et je sens au-dessus de moi les étoiles aveugles le jour
qui attendent avec leur lumière. Pendant un moment,
je me repose dans la grâce du monde, et je suis libre.

Murray Kyle is honestly one my favourite acoustic musicians on the planet. I am super exited to have created his first ever remix. I love as a producer to build bridges between the acoustic and electronic worlds to unite cultures through music. 

The original version of this track is from Murray's latest release entitled TALISMAN, and for this remix we teamed up with our good friend DJ LO QI to bring this one through.
