Brian Thummler’s  Ghost Birds combines piano improvisations and noise to create a uniquely compelling musical duality. These 7 pieces, selected by John Brien, are inspired by a lifetime of experience, art & poetry as well as Cage, Merzbow, Satie, Sun Ra.

Ghost Birds takes flight with experimental simplicity. The interaction of noise and piano, a synergy that also pushes and pulls, creates profound musical dimensions available to the attentive listener. 

Ghost Birds was recorded in a studio and on an enclosed porch where an old, noisy out of tune upright grand piano lives. Traffic sounds seep in and plant themselves in the recording while the human soul empties into the piano. 

Who is Brian Thummler? To quote the poet Lu Yu, he is “the old man who does as he pleases.” 

This first edition of Ghost Birds is packaged in a handmade, letterpresses O card slip sleeve.

In 2013, Galaktlan joined the Seksound Records catalog with the release of Second Memory. Since then, Galaktlan has released a number of projects on the Seksound label including full-lengths, EP’s and singles. Now, Galaktlan is back with En Garde, his tenth full-length album, including a number of other projects, and third full-length on Seksound Records. Releasing on September 17th, En Garde escorts the listener to other realms of musical possibilities as electronics take flight and soar into an aethereal, magical atmosphere. Evoking electronic glitch, dance beats, and electro-soundtrack sensibilities, Laatsit soars on En Garde bringing a clear expertise to his electronic compositions. There are ghostly moments throughout the album that sit alongside beats and various electronic structures, both soothing and enticing.   Galaktlan is the electronic, experimental project of Estonian based artist Taavi Laatsit who brings a sci-fi aesthetic to every piece he produces. Currently living in Brussels, Laatsit utilized the Arturia V Collection plus a number of UAD effects on En Garde to magnificent effect. A master of soft-synths and hardware alike, Laatsit manages to create a beautiful successor to Constance. As such, it contains a magical, almost romantic feel that few can deliver given the musical genre. Influenced by his time in the improvisational noise group Kismabande and in another Estonian experimental project called Kulgurid, En Garde has a depth to it with expressive layers and meaningful musical connections.  Taavi Laatsit mixed the album himself while Lauri Liivak, long time Seksound mainstay, bought his expertise in mastering to the project. Not only is the music on En Garde breathtaking, but the  cover art by Andrei Kedrin and layout by Kaarel Vahtramäe are incredible additions that make this album a total package. 
Due out on limited black vinyl and digital formats, Galaktlan’s En Garde is a must have addition to the Seksound catalog.
