It’s not been long since Cornish DJs, =AVE=, Olly G & Hi-Fly stumbled on to the horizon as the Freerangers, yet they’ve already made a big impression. Their latest and greatest, showcases their fidgety broken beats and sub-heavy wonk perfectly. Rammed with old skool scratches, trumpets, chunky ass drums and a think as muck bottom end, ‘Old Jack’ will not leave your set for a while.

West Country bods Ben & Lex are real troopers, and here they bring relative newbies The Freerange DJs onto their Ape label for a scratchadelic, jackin’ beast that is, indeed, riddled with old skool samples (Space Invaders, a neighing horse etc). The growling, scrunched up b-line powers it home, while Quadrat Beat expands on the bassline to take it into proper acid territory. Dom Almond goes a bit mental, and then exciting newcomer Eshericks really raves it up for the pick of the bunch, with peaking synths, wiggly 303s and true hardcore sensibilities.

601 have been making some serious waves this year, especially in the 140 jungly sound which they are feeling. With their awesome 'White Off' EP and remix of Lethalness for Ape, a simply MASSIVE Ep on Aquasky's legendary Passenger imprint plus more yummy treats still to come the 601 bays are clearly on a misson. 

We at Ape Towers are very pleased to present the first part of a series of releases by 601 called 'Baddies'. 

For your pleasure here is Part 1.

First up is 'Can't Take It' which put simply has been the highlight of many a DJ set for the early part of this year. It's a whopping great big behemoth of a 140 jungle badboy of a tune. 

Starting with an epic Reese bass intro, glitchy freaky female vocals build the old pant wetting suspense till you quite literally 'Cant Take it anymore' and drops into mad massive jungly drums, 808s and subdrops that will make you spill your guts. This is pure dancefloor action and no mistake.

Next up is a AA side of the highest calibre! No B side fillers round here I'll have you know.
  
Whoop! does exactly what the title suggests. It's a no messing party killer packed full of juicy old skool garage pops and gnarly basslines rude enough to make anyone blush.

As we emerge completely unharmed from our summer of festival madness we at APE towers are proud, and quite frankly lucky, to have reached our 30th Birthday! 

For our 30th we emerge from our mispent 20's with a thoroughly grown up slice of proper breakbeaty bizzle from fellow monkey lovers Original Primate (although we are the original primate we'll defer to them for this one release) 

Original Primate have chalked up a few releases in their short partnership. Pete O'Connor (Secureunit) and Rob Focuz (Apply The Breaks) came together through mutual appreciation of dirty raves, breaks and basslines and had their first release off the back of winning a competition set by Computer Music Magazine and the Canadian producer Myagi. 

We are proud to give them their first full original release for us on APE, having impressed us with their badass remix of Enough Weapons earlier this year. 

Both tracks demonstrate their big bad bass heavy sound perfectly combining  Breakbeat and Dubstep vibes with enough balls & energy to create a perfect pair of peak time dancefloor killers!  Battledance nods its head at the current 140 end of breaks while Bassline Skanker does what it says on the tin and wil have you skankin around like a rudeboy in no time!!

Ape Music is nearing the end of its troublesome teens! To celebrate the fact we are bringing you past, present and future badboy bass bizness!!

As a little teaser for the forthcoming 'From The Vaults' mix album we have dug into the monkey treasure trove and we bring you some special treats from labels bosses themselves, Ben and Lex!! 

They have revisited their tune 'Makaton' and gone to town on new remixes across many genres each bringin a lil summat special to the table just for you!! 

Their 2010 VIP remix is a MONSTER of a tune crossing the border of breaks, house and dubstep with badboy steppy beats and a bassline to lose your love juices over! 

Also included is the never before released original which they have kept for just their live sets for the last year or so and its a proper straight up breakbeat beast that leans towards funk n bass land of the Plumps and Drummatics....You're welcome :) 

First up on the remixes we have the stupidy talented Mr Rob Jones aka Anarchy Rice who has been releasing some insane bangers in the last year for the likes of Acidphonic and Dead Famous. He brings Ape exactly what we like, a hugely bass heavy tech funky stomper....A cheeky mellow pad in the intro hides the wonkathon of bass that arrives in the drop & slaps you firmly in the naughty bits !! Beware the Anarchy !! 

Next up we have US badboys Viro & Rob Analyze who have turned in an awesome electro house/techno behemoth of a remix for us...This is definitely one for the peak time sets ladies and gents.

Next up we have drafted in a local rising star of the Dubstep world, Pulsar, to sprinkle new life into another old Ben & Lex badboy, 'Schizometric' and boy has he done us proud! Rinsing reese bass and heavy ass beats make for a real dancefloor epic.....With forthcoming releases on NYC label Code Of Arms and Subdepth records and remixes for the likes of Skitz, this fella is one to watch for 2010 fo sho!

It's Bass music time again!!!! 

We have a very special bass heavy release for you this time in the form of 3 tracks from the mighty bassmonkey himself , BASS=WIN head honcho Terry Hooligan and the ever awesome due Mr Temper D & Balkansky (SuicideDub etc) 

Mr Hooligan has turned in a ruff n ready short sharp blast of bass music switch up mayhem. 'One Step Ahead' gets stright to the point and never bloody leaves!!

Taking it into realms of facemelt it never thought it would go, 'One Step Ahead' has been torn a new arsehole by none other that Temper D and the bulgarian badman Balkansky. Huge drums & screwface bass of the highest proportions makes for a surefire winner. Be warned...if you like you're bass heavy and ya beats hard then this is most definitely one to tickle your fancy/back passage/mum (delete as applicable)

To round things off the ever cool Temper D has given us his track 'Last Days' as a lil bonus bizzle and we love it. A very cool little chunk of electro 4/4 dubsteppy party action!

The Ape has left its teens behind and hits 20 releases young and so just for a chuckle we thought for this one we’d revisit one of the labels early and most popular releases to date and get a couple of our favourite remix mates to do some kick ass reworks.

First up we have Drum & Bass new kid on the block supremo Fred V who with his other half Grafix have already developed a massive following amoung the DnB illuminati with huge radio support from Fabio & Grooverider and all the 1Xtra boys as well as the Hospital Records crew.

Fred V takes the original vocal sample & weaves it into a massive reece basslined huge synth hooked dancefloor killer aimed squarely at the floor! He is 100% a future star in the making and a name to look out for.

Ape Music was established in 2006, by Ben & Lex, from the ashes of the successful south west club night of the same name. After nearly ten years as residents at ‘Beatz & Bobz‘ (one of the country’s longest running breaks nights) and at ‘Ape’ and having had many releases on other labels such as Functional, Silo, Drum & Breaks and Wut Eva to name a few. Ben & Lex are no strangers to what makes a good tune so they decided it was time for them to get out there and start their own label.

Just like their Dj sets, as anyone who has been lucky enough to see them play knows, Ape Music will not be confined to one style of breaks (or even genres) but will encompass everything from funky to techy to tearout and out the other side!

The only criteria is the quality. And as they put it. “Well, I’d play it!”
