3STRANGE returns to Apex Faction once again showing off his range of production abilities with this thematic EP. Kicking off the release 'Intergalactic love affair’ we head back to the 80’s with 3STRANGE’s ode to the era of synth wave. Big Moog Arps, voice pads and Daft Punk style vocoded vocals rise throughout the track lifting you into the retro futuristic filled heavens of synthesizers and neon dancers. 

Moving forward in time to the noughties we have ‘Mad Busy’. Inspired by the indie music of the time, Mad busy puts its foot down, driving along in Bloc Party esque fashion.

Presenting a blend of genres across the electronic music spectrum and beyond, across the three tracks Oliver Henry pulls on the heartstrings and tempts our nostalgia. Tight drum productions and immersive sound designs shimmer over Oliver’s underlying chord progressions in each track. Forming the underlying layer with an engaging texture; prepared pianos play tantalising progressions over varying, beautifully crafted drum grooves.

French producer Paul Roux writes music for stargazing. The cinematic style speaks to the human connection, rhythmic like a heartbeat, tickling the sensations with its raw, evocative energy. The Humanity EP follows up the producer’s debut album World as Memorial Home, projecting the artist yet further into a spiritual and ghostly sound, rooted in that classic Chicago aesthetic. It’s a sound that speaks to every one of us, and one that is forever human.

It was with the 2021 release No Doubt on the Dutch label ARTS, that really established Paul Roux as an artist with an ear for ethereal, dreamlike and experimental rhythm records; a sound he’s helped propagate though his labels Venom Recordings, Rapid Eye Movement, and his more recent project, Wide Division.

Following the recent, and highly praised release Emperia on Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave imprint, the French producer was asked to return to the fold with the Humanity EP, released on Fitzpatrick’s electronica label, Apex Faction,

“What I appreciate about art and music is its strength, power, and ability to provide escapism and a moment to question ourselves,” Roux says about the record. “We live in a fast-paced world where overconsumption is rife. I wanted to create some time out, with the Humanity EP acting as a personal therapy for me; A self-assessment of nature and of things I find essential in life.” 

The record leads off with ‘Humanity’, a track drenched in melancholic strings, haunting soundscapes, and a gentle rhythmic flow, creating a deep yet powerful opus. ‘Adventure’ picks up the tempo, with a soulful house beat and balearic, sombre strings, like a crescendo of waves. Indeed, it was the outdoors that provided so much inspiration for the record. “The environment inspires me, so when I create music, I go on an adventure and try to share my feelings and vision,” Roux says about the production process. “When creating Humanity, I’m dreaming of a warm place… where the skies are blue, and the birds sing.” 

‘Forevermore’ starts off with a poignant 2002 monolog about global warming by Jacques Chirac. It’s sweeping, cinematic interludes, deep chords, and an ever-present resonance, lock its tender hooks into the listeners’ soul before ‘Blue Lines’ finishes the EP, making use of sensual pads and a shimmering, percussive beat to fathom a deep, sonic canvas that talks directly to the human condition.

The latest release on Alan Fitzpatrick’s Apex Faction imprint sees UK producer Tim Reaper, Dwarde and Dharma add their unique take on Buridan’s ‘It Happened Just Once’. Tim Reaper & Dwarde’s remix is everything you would expect from the new-jungle scene ringleaders. The mix is bass heavy, fresh and futuristic yet deeply nostalgic. Dharma returns to the label following his stunning ‘Ghost Hunting’ release earlier this year. The young producer takes the track to new heights, dwelling on emotive melodies to add an impactful twist to the original.

The original, from US-based Buridan, see’s echoing vocals and elegant synths that carry the melody across an expanse of moving soundscapes; underpinned by deep bass tones and driving snares that create a perfect amalgamation of elements from a dazzling array of genres from the underground.

Alan Fitzpatrick’s record label Apex Faction drops a dystopian techno release from American artist Buridan.

Known for his techno releases on Christian Smith’s ‘Tronic’ and Fitzpatrick’s ‘We Are The Brave’ imprint, Buridan a.k.a Zach Fentress returns to Apex Faction following the success of his acclaimed 2022 single ‘It Happened Just Once’. Although hypnotic and peak-time techno is at the core of Zach’s style, his previous outing on Apex Faction welcomed remixes from rising talent Modeā and new-jungle pioneers Tim Reaper & Dwarde.

Buridan’s latest single “Hologram" opens with a pounding kick drum, clattering high-end percussion and slowly fading pads. The euphoria of the pads is offset by the industrial atmospherics and unrelenting energy.
