I have been listening to Heavy-K ever since he put out NDIBAMBE in the early part of lockdown with his wife (NTOMBI Music). I used to visit my mum in Pretoria when she worked there. South Africa is a very beautiful place that speaks of the promise of what Africa could be. Its going through tough times. We all are. But Heavy-K's music makes me dream of the good times in the future. Nkosi sikelela my dudes and dudettes!

So this mix was made for my lil/big man cousin Stephen Bentsi-Enchill on his birthday. It was a pretty cool spin on what is now the streaming era's version of 'No Vaseline'. I really like Kendrick but the peaceful African in me says that he went a tad too far but the Ares in me says that Drake got what he deserved but only time will tell about how hip-hop morphs as Kendrick as the undisputed boogeyman of rap now. I can't wait to see. So this is my form of a salute to Kendrick. Hope he hears it!!!
