Entrevista a Alexi Delano

Cual fue el primer track que hiciste ?
 
A/ - Fue un track mezclado de diferentes estilos de música.
Era como cuando pequeño y te regalan tu primera caja de lapices de colores y de una quieres probar todos. Asi mas o menos fue mi primer track, un popourri de sonidos. Menos mal que nunca fue editado. jajaja
 
En tu juventud viviste en Suecia, donde conociste a muchos de tus grandes amigos de hoy como Cari o Jesper ...cuéntanos como fueron esos años?
 
A/ - En mi juventud el primero de ese grupo de amigos que conoci fue el maestro Cari Lekebusch. En esa época el ya estaba muy metido en la música electrónica en Suecia. Creo que a los 17 años ya tenia editados algunos vinilos. Juntos y con otro amigo que también era/es productor (Glenn Wilson) abrimos una tienda de disco llamada Planet Rhythm, fue  el lugar que empece a conocer el resto del grupo como a Adam Beyer, Jesper Dahlback, Joel Mull, Aril Brikha y otros productores de la época que ya se salieron de la escena. En el comienzo Adam y los chicos venían a comprar sus discos en esta tienda y poco después comenzaron a trabajar con nosotros.
 
Recientemente te mudaste de N.Y. a Londres ..como ha influenciado esto en tu forma de producir?
 
A/ - En el comienzo se me hace difícil comprender y aun mas, explicar, como exactamente una ciudad influye a mi y a mi música. Siempre es mas fácil entender eso cuando ya a pasado un buen tiempo. Por ejemplo ahora se lo que me inspiraba/influyo en Estocolmo o Nueva York, escucho temas míos y entiendo por que los hice de esa manera. En Londres aun me siento como un alumno y que estoy aprendiendo entender la ciudad y hasta puede ser eso mismo que subconsciente mente influye mi música.
 
Que escuchas cuando no estas en el estudio?
 
A/ - El silencio o el sonido de la naturaleza. Muy pocas veces escucho música en casa y si escucho es música Jazz, Clásica o Experimental.
 
Cual es tu herramienta de producción favorita en este momento?
 
A/ - En este momento y también muchos años a y es la Roland SH-101. Casi siempre esta presente en mis temas.  Es una pequeña bestia.
 
Sabemos que eres una persona hecha de música ...que lanzamientos tienes planeados para los próximos meses?
 
A/ - Uy, bueno los últimos seis meses he estado trabajando con diferentes artistas internacionales sin pensar en el futuro de el trabajo pero cada uno de estos artistas tienen sus propios sellos y seguro saldrán en los de ellos o el mio que es AD Limited. Uno de estos proyectos es con Jesper Dahlback y este sera nuestro tercer L.P. El año pasado hice muchas remezclas que este año van a empezar a ver la luz.
 
Has escuchado de LOST PARTY? Que tienes planeado para nosotros esa noche?
 
A/ - Hace dos años escuche hablar de LOST PARTY y desde entonces hemos tratado que yo vaya a tocar. Me alegro mucho que después de tanto tiempo se va hacer una realidad. Me contaron que es uno de los mejores eventos de Honduras asi que voy preparado. De preparación llevare muchos de estas colaboraciones pare ver como funcionan con el publico de LOST PARTY 2015!

The Man just came down in flames. The night is vibrating and the whole community is gathered in the center of the city such that the neon lights and the fire are blended as one massive sea of brightness… The ritual music at the Warrior starts to fade out and Dramian is fading in. As the man behind MUTEK MX, one of the most avant-garde festivals specialised in electronic music and culture (which was celebrated last week in Mexico City), you can imagine his wide musical spectrum and taste. So that´s the kind of journey he delivered, musically wide, tasteful and cerebrally avant-garde.

" Here is my DJ set on Monday night into Tuesday morning at White Ocean. This was my 1st Dj set of many on the Playa this year, and it definitely started me off on an incredible high that I didn't come down from all week long! Hearing and testing out new tunes that night was amazing, and I cannot thank the beautiful crowd enough for dancing with me until the morning.  The stage production, shooting flames, lighting, impeccable sound system, and non-stop warm hospitality from the White Ocean Camp was second to none. A big hug and thank you to Timur, Victoria, Eduardo, Kfir, Ester, and the entire White Ocean camp, for offering such an incredible platform to share my music, and for the wonderful feeling of community they created this year. "

In contrast to the approach I took with my last studio mix, "Intuition (#055)," I decided to take this on from a calculated approach relying on reason rather than feeling. The mixes I respect and enjoy listening to the most are stylistically varied, so for this mix (not unlike most of my mixes) I aimed for an output that achieves the same, balancing lush vs stripped, angry vs delicate, synthesized vs organic, serious vs quirky.

The fun challenge of assembling a mix in this fashion is finding a way to weave through those various sounds without sounding jarring or schizophrenic. I believe if that's achieved, then the end result is an hour of music that can be listened to over and over again, staying fresh, and in rare cases, approaches timelessness.

I've been on tour these last few weeks spending quite a bit of time in planes, trains, and automobiles with lots of time to listen to this mix over and over. Obviously I'm heavily biased since I'm choosing only music that I love, but I'm just now getting sick of it after roughly my 20th listen. I hope you'll find this mix worth at least one.
