Tenants du post-rap, Dead Obies a vu le jour à Montréal au printemps 2011. En quelques mois, les rappeurs Snail Kid, 20Some, Yes Mccan, O.G. BEAR, RCA, et le producteur VNCE ont dressé la table de leur mythologie du $ud $ale avec le mixtape Collation Vol. 1. Ils se sont ensuite retrouvés en finale des Francouvertes 2013, où ils ont raflé 15 prix.

Enregistré en partie en studio et en partie devant public lors d’une série de trois spectacles affichant complet au Centre Phi, Gesamtkunstwerk se veut plus rassembleur et accessible que son prédécesseur.
