Moons

Annie comes up with cool (and eventually challenging) ideas. This time we start a series of tunes related to the full moons of this year and their names (as they are chosen in the English/Euro part of the world).

Wolf Moon

The February full moon is up on Feb, 12th ... time to present the accompanying tune.

Snow Moon

Annie says: "The moon for March is known today as the Worm Moon. However, the roots of the moon names are lost “in the mists of time” as they say. So after some discussion, Andreas and I came to the view that this March moon was most probably named after the Old English/Saxon word for ‘dragon’ which is ‘wyrm’, as it is known in the 10th century epic Beowulf, and that the common-or-garden worm was named after its mightier mythical ancestor. So here it is, and we hope you like it!"

Wyrm Moon

Milk Moon

Annie's words for the June moon ignite kinda kaleidoscopic images; I felt inspired to reflect these in the arrangement and mix of several 'players' and moods, aiming for some 'Kopfkino' moments.

Strawberry Moon

The full moon of July 10th, 2025, is named Buck Moon or Herb Moon. The latter one inspired Annie (https://soundcloud.com/annie-dieu-le-veut) to provide glorious lyrics and her narrational talents. Everything else we created and arranged by me. 

Herb Moon

For this summerly August moon Annie (https://soundcloud.com/annie-dieu-le-veut) wrote some lovely lyrics, partly meant to be sung, partly to be narrated (the latter is done by herself). I have the pleasure to set all that to music and arrangements. Enjoy ... 

Red Moon

The track for the September moon (that is embellished with an eclipse this year).

Corn Moon

October's full moon runs under the moniker "Hunter's Moon" and Annie (as usual) has provided gorgeous lyrics. I arranged them for two musical versions:

Hunter's Moon (extended mix)

The full moon of November is mostly named "Beaver Moon", derived from the Indians who observed the beavers building their winter 'homes', but -- as well -- hunting them at that time to gather warm furs for themselves. The November is a month to begin reflecting the flow of the past year and already prepare some things and thoughts for the upcoming time. The track tries to musically illustrate that ... 

Beaver Moon

This is this year's final "moon" song. The December moon usually is called "cold moon" -- presumably easy to understand. The lyrics are inspired by the star constellations accompanying December's full moon in 2025: 
As the Cold Moon climbs higher and higher, it will make for a beautiful night-sky sight, forming a triangle with the Pleiades star cluster and bright star Aldebaran in Taurus. You'll also be able to see Jupiter close to the Cold Moon, as well as the winter constellation of Orion, the Hunter.
A little trivia fact in addition: In ancient Germany the name was "Julmond", a clear reference to "Yule", the celebration of winter solstice. That event has its own song: https://soundcloud.com/api_zz/yule 

Cold Moon

The "Moons" series won't be complete without the occasional "Blue Moon". Here are some facts: 
Popular Definition (Mistake): The second full moon in a single calendar month.
Traditional Definition: The third full moon in an astronomical season that has four full moons (the Maine Farmer's Almanac method).
Frequency: About every 2.7 years for the monthly definition. 
Based on these statements the lyrics spin some associative words and then are set to an ambient arrangement.

Blue Moon

Being musician and artist "since ages", the last two decades and all the developments in digital music broadened my interests and activities in doing music actively and passively. Not being shy of any genre (OK, leave off some Punk and Extreme Metal derivates) I engage in composing, arranging, mixing and collaborating. 

Oh, and I do all my artwork and designs as well. And as you may notice I regard AI as a friendly helper.
