Germany's Apnoea return to Stripped Down with two new singles, one of which they also remix themselves.

The Apnoea pair has their own melodic take on house and techno. It has stood them apart since their debut on Mobilee in 2021, which brought them together after previous solo success. Last year they offered their Phnk EP on this label and have also played key European venues from Berghain to ADE to Cocoon club.

Their story now continues with these stylish new cuts. The superb Frankie Valli inspired, 'I Can't Take My Eyes Off You' opens with a slinky house sound. It's overlaid with a vocoder vocal that brings the future funk. The lithe synths are drawn out in elegant patterns, build to a dramatic breakdown then the whole track takes off once more. Apnoea then offers their own Deep Dive remix which is roomier, stripped back and warm. Gorgeous percussive sounds and balmy pads pepper the drums which hypnotise as they unfold. Closer 'Empty Street' is more upbeat with loopy synths that get you locked in and rising through the stars. Rugged bass and rooted drums keep things moving as the subtle waves of euphoria wash over you time and time again.

With 'Cycle' we welcome Kiko & Aves Volare to Lost on You with a pair of fantastic remixes courtesy of Waltervelt and Apnoea who bring us their take on the duo's new single; a dynamic, groovy, deep, and hypnotic fusion of genres that fits perfectly in any kind of club or outdoor festival.

Kiko & Aves Volare know a thing or two when it comes to mind-blowing productions, as they deliver an irresistible track that kicks off nicely with melancholic vibes that set the tone. They move effortlessly through melodies, while the sensual chords sit beautifully over the percussive base. The duo takes it up a notch by introducing Aves Volare's vocal work, while upping the tempo with cleverly programmed drums and their trademark effects elements, without destroying the essence of the main beat. His work deserves to be described as "essential" in any sense of the word.

As for the remixes, we welcome to the label Waltervelt who has delivered a glitchy remix of the original taking us on a classic Detroit electro trip, threading the quivering vocals through an engaging combination of 808 beats, crisp percussion, and haunting synth melodies that comes across as a more contemporary dance anthem driving through a 4/4 kick drum with little snippets of the original anthemic refrain.

The second remix comes courtesy of Apnoea, which keeps the ethereal theme of the original alive with a pulsing bassline before its drum fills and overall warmth combine to speak. Like something from yesteryear, but with a fresh sound, this mystical romp raises the energy levels, but sharpens the melancholy with elements both stripped down and lucid at the same time, before exquisite pads adorn the rework changing the mood and creating a blanket of warmth that envelops the affected groove.

With "Cycle", Kiko & Aves Volare manages to convey a message of emphatically sustained musical relevance to warm the soul. Not to be missed.

Next up, “Just Like A Shadow” is reminiscent of dusty desert plains. Evolving and evocative sounds, touches of hang drum, and an otherworldly vocal story take you to another plane, if only for 7 minutes.

We are excited to welcome Apnoea back to mobilee on remix duties, after their debut EP “Why We Breathe” earlier this year. They transform “Just Like A Shadow” into a dark and twisting route through the deeper side of melodic techno, a unique spin, laying the foundations for many a discerning dance floor moment in clubs this summer.

John Tejada Remix | DHI | Premiere

Melodic house and techno newcomers APNOEA continue to make waves with a superb offering on Stripped Down that comes backed with a John Tejada remix.

This German duo only debuted on the legendary Mobilee Records in spring 2021, but immediately turned plenty of heads. They have a combined 40 years of experience in the studio that has given rise to big solo projects on Noir Music, Get Physical, Last Night on Earth and many other labels. They remixed Timo Maas on Stripped Down earlier in the year, and their full debut on the label showcases a richly layered and emotive sound across two superb tunes.

They open up with the excellent 'Phnk,' a deep roller with twitchy synths and slick claps. As the synths grow in energy, you're lifted off your feet and transported to the stars on a smooth and seductive house groove.

'Wormhole' is just as well crafted and hypnotic, this time with more edgy synth motifs looping above pinging kick drums. There is tension in the bleeping keys and turbulent bass that makes for added drama as the eight-minute trip unfolds.

Remixer and LA-based artist John Tejada is a long-time tech house mainstay. His famously pristine, well-crafted sounds have landed him on labels like Kompakt and Cocoon and made him one of the scene's most consistent performers. Here he flips 'Phnk' into a sublime track built on clean breakbeats, with rich melodic patterns and lively bass all working to suspend you above the dancefloor.

This is another stylish statement from this fast-rising duo.

Ken Hayakawa returns to Stripped Down with the ‘Kaisermantel’ EP, delivering an atmospheric two tracker accompanied by a remix from German duo Apnoea.

Vienna scene staple Ken Hayakawa boasts releases on labels such as Schönbrunner Perlen, International Deejay Gigolos and Upon You Records. He first arrived on Stripped Down in 2018 with the ‘Sonic Waves’ EP and has since become a recurring contributor to the label, ‘Kaisermantel’ marking his third project signed to the respected Frankfurt imprint.

The title track opens up with catchy, spacey synth lines arpeggiating with increasing intensity over clean, minimal drums. While ‘Kaisermantel’ takes you to the far corners of the galaxy, ‘Hollow Ghost’ takes a different approach and ventures into the furthest depths of the earth. Its dark, cavernous drums are backed by shimmering pads and give a grand sense of scale.

Apnoea follow up their ‘Phnk’ EP on Stripped Down with a remix of Ken’s ‘Hollow Ghost’, once again proving that they are a pair to keep a close eye on in 2022. Their version adds suspense and mystery with a hypnotic new synthline weaving in and out of the reworked bass and strings.

In just over a few month, Germany’s apnoea have captured the attention of the scene’s biggest names with their take on melodic house & techno.
The story of apnoea already started some month ago with music making in their studios. And with a debut EP on Mobilee Records the big trip have begun in
spring 2021. Their sound has been honed by a combined 40 years of studio experience, resulting in expertly crafted music that tells a story.
On top of that they already released a remix for Timo Maas, which came on Stripped Down Records in January 2021 and an EP followed in August 2021 on the same label - more songs to come!
Previously, apnoea had successful projects as 2pole and solo careers as Broombeck & Mark Deutsche, releasing hit techno tracks like „Alone feat. Ursula
Rucker“, „Atom“, „The Clapper“, “Mono Turn” and “Push” on labels like Suara, Tronic, Terminal M, Elevate, Get Physical, Noir Music, Octopus, Last Night on Earth,
Systematic, and more.
They also played live or as DJs at exclusive venues around Europe like Berghain on the main floor, Amsterdam Dance Event, and Germany’s Cocoon Club. As 2pole,
they’ve taken their energetic style to Barcelona’s Off Week, ADE, as well as Pratersauna in Vienna, Eden Ibiza, Suma Beach in Istanbul, and Ritter Butzke in Berlin.
Clearly, the apnoea story has only just begun.
