Dedicated to promote young and evolving artists, raster-noton is curating the unun series which name refers to the chemical elements 111-119. »Unalloyed, Unlicensed, All Night!« is Jesse Osborne-Lanthier’s first release on raster-noton, and the ninth and final release of this series.

Jesse Osborne-Lanthier is a Berlin / Montreal based, Canadian electronic music producer and multidisciplinary artist. His erratic research process incorporates the urgency of dance music and conceptual electronics by disassembling their grammar and acting through it. Refusing to follow the etiquette of a particular musical genre, he explores many creative practices in order to generate clashes of mood, expectation and technique.

»Unalloyed, Unlicensed, All Night!« was recorded by Osborne-Lanthier a mere two hours before a live set in Paris. Its specific purpose was to generate a response from the audience, to stimulate their bodies through sound. The toolbox for this task was stocked with automatic call-and-response music tropes drawn from EDM, big-room house, trance, and online production tutorials. Between the producer’s idiosyncratic by-the-numbers process and the rushed nature of the composition, the final product is rendered unpredictable; each signifier transforms into a distorted ghost of itself. This allows for unexpected responses to manifest on the dance floor as well as in the listener’s space of existence.

In the past, Digilog released the EP Drive In on Yoshi Vienna and appeared on Pomelo Records 20 years compilation together with Electro Guzzi and as a remixer on Black Body Radiation, a part of Irradiation series together with Milton Bradley (Grounded Theory). 

Now he returns to his home base TEMP~Records with the 4 tracker EP Dark Places.
It opens with Dark Place, a track with almost a movie-like quality. The crime has been committed, the car is racing fast into the nothingness, but the conscience can’t be escaped from. The guilt spiral is circling in heavy, fast rhythm of heart in fear…

Jumping Circus indeed jumps about in elastic beat, which as well as the previous track uses high tones in dissonance to evoke the dark background full of deceit and drill behind the shiny glamour show.

Next scene, Next Stop. The percussions are trembling from the tremor caused by heavy kicks, the melody lines are distorted in foreboding smiles and menacing synth shrieks.

The last track Invaders Won’t Talk is built with a mysterious synthesizer tremolo and industrial, massive beat lacking kick-drum, but leaking trickles of turbid and rusty synth pads.

You can’t escape dark places; they lurk everywhere.

Following an accomplished EP on Perc Trax & a feature on Parallels and Influence Part II, Manni Dee returns to Leyla contributing his third EP to the labels impressive discography.

Your Public Image commences with Insurrection Erection, featuring vocals by Joke Lanz of Sudden Infant (Harbinger Sound, Raubbau). The vocal contributions harness a feeling of widespread disharmony, punctuating the bullish drums and assertive atmosphere with eruptions of frustration and expressions of malcontent. While the field recorded vocals made by Lanz feature as an empowered voice and a call for upheaval, the screams and shrieks from Lanz operate as the marginalised voice of the oppressed, sharply slicing through musical elements only to disappear and become submerged.

The A2 skips along with broken beats in very British fashion, reminiscent of Manni's earlier work on Black Sun Records, with added ingenuity and percussive flare.

The application of vocals, which has become a key characteristic of Dee's recent work, is creatively exhibited on the B1 Combination Acts; a track that displays a deft percussive density unique to Dee's style, adding a frenetic touch to a steadfast substructure. 

The tempo ramps up on the EP closer, satirically & appropriately titled The Jingoism Stench. The distorted & frantic yet nimble foundation propels the track forward, with reverberated contact mic and vocal recordings bouncing off the stolid walls of rhythmic pressure.

An acute understanding and implementation of rhythm and sound design results in provocative dancefloor material that blurs the lines between industrial traditions and (post) punk artistry. Dee continues to flourish as one of the most innovative and exciting voices in techno today.

Sport is the 2nd release by @https://soundcloud.com/kuf and @https://soundcloud.com/ddoldd on Float Records. These guys from the north again delivered 4 solid tracks with minimal, but intriguing elements.

The EP is titled Sport and Kuf takes of the title track. 'Sport' is exactly what a pro sporter would sound like during his game. Full speed with 100% adrenaline focussed on it’s goal. 'FM Loops', the 2nd deliverance by Kuf has some tensed exotic vibes. Or isn’t it exotic? Judge it yourself. 

On the flip side his friend Dold seems to take it down a notch. But don’t be fooled, because Moment, the 1st track, has some big impact. Combining intelligent bleeps with a minimal bassline and some heavy drums you’ll get what Dold always gives. And don't forget the solid atmospherical pads to give some extra emotion to the track. The 2nd one is Revolution. Based on a falling and rising bassline and minimal drums this will fit smoothly into any set.
