Family, Fish, Shapes. These are only three of the many topics that Stefan Streck aka The Micronaut recently devoted himself to within his releases on labels such as Acker Records or Analogsoul. Always with a clear line, but never intellectualising, is how the multi-instrumentalist and producer pursues his scientific curiosity in terms of sounds. His tracks are elaborate and yet danceable. Sometimes they are composed minimally, sometimes they are utterly playful. Within just a few bars, subtle sequences transform to energetic roller coaster rides since The Micronaut loves having a game with contrasts. His newest EP on Freude am Tanzen proves this anew.
The EP contains four tracks full of references to the past in view of the future. Indeed, the samples and sounds of the British “summers of love“ echo strongly until today, however, they sound much more like a reinvention instead of a revival in the case of The Micronaut. Since his music doesn’t shy away from big gestures, but virtually seeks them out – and discovers them where melancholy meets euphoria far from rigid genre classifications. Breakbeats from Britain come upon IDM and trance, wide synth landscapes are embedded in pop. Hence, this is how The Micronaut unifies contrasts a new in each track.

A1. Earlylate
To start a rave once again somewhere in broad acres or in abandoned tunnels. On top of that, this track, whether early or late, the arms up in the air and a riot of emotion. Air horn!

A2. Oldnew
Shuffle, but different. Almost like Kompakt wasn’t from Cologne, but from London. Similar over here, nobody is looking obliquely when the beat doesn’t march straight forward four-to-the-floor. Massive groove with obstacles, might as well.

B1. Underover
It’s as if James Holden was on his way going on a short trip in England beginning of the nineties when basses still made ears and trousers tremble. This sound won’t age in a hundred years – especially not when it’s as fresh.

B2. Smallbig?
The bouncer with tremendous thoughtfulness. A hymn for the late hours shortly before the lights go on. In last retrospect, not thinking about tomorrow. In this moment for all eternity, for one night.

Ritualistic Vibes

Everyone is afraid of something. Some are afraid of spiders, others suffer from brontophobia, or the fear of thunder and lightning. Some are afraid of death and others are afraid of life. People suffer from agoraphobia, or the fear of going out... however, there are some who are afraid to  stay in, and this one is for them.
FOMO is the new EP by MAN2.0 on the wonderful Hypnotic Groove, a label run by Andrea Macintosh and Johnny Wilson who also run a podcast which has featured everyone from DJs Pareja to DJ Overdose, Dreems to Curses. As well as that they run a local night in the unlikely clubbing Mecca of Inverness in Scotland, single handedly turning Scotland's third city into a techno head's paradise.
FOMO is a homage to rave culture which takes cues from Sasha and Digweed as much as it does old skool rave. With a breakdown which will induce clubbers to lift those hands and reach for the lasers, FOMO is a tidy little dancefloor number which will make you glad you didn't miss out.

Therefore, we have decided to move forward with our plan
to release a little digital compilation to celebrate our 5th label birthday. 5 tracks for 5 years.

To the task we have asked a couple of family members to
contribute tracks as well as uncovered some secret versions we've been playing out for quite some time now and felt it is the right time to release them. As you can guess from the tracklist, the compilation is diverse in styles and goes from drones slow trance to diy Post Punk to ambient.
