SKYWALKER
Centuries have gone by since the day of Apollo 11’s landing, and technological advancements have only increased in their speed. All the mundane tasks of life have long been assigned to robot assistants, middle-class families can afford summer vacations to the moon, and element mining has reached an all-time high. Although humanity is still divided, most people have want for nothing. The Earth, moon, and Mars are treated like lab rats, something to be poked and prodded and explored, then left in their plundered state once all there is to know have been discovered. The Earth was the most severely gutted, drilled into its deepest recesses from all over the planet. Then one day without warning, the Earth defends itself. 


02 Skywalker

REBIRTH 
Careening forward at the speed of a Big Bang, Apollo Genesis erupts from the Veil like a bullet. With one rocket blown and the others still on warp speed, it spins perilously out of control. It shuts off warp speed and turns on its emergency mode—prioritizing all energy to the safety of the fetuses that are protected within the artificial womb of the satellite. However with no resistance to slow it down, it continues at its lighting pace. It detects an incoming planet in its delirium, a planet so completely covered in milky white clouds that its inner appearance could not be identified. In the largest risk ever taken by humankind, the Apollo Genesis decides to forgo its protocol to find a planet that can be immediately determined as sustainable for the human race. It uses a portion of its remaining fuel to turn itself into the gravitational field of the planet, and begins to turn red hot as it breaches its atmosphere. It absorbs the heat of its descent and isolates it away from the fetuses, making sure they don’t boil. And finally with all the white matter it has left, it turns itself around and fires its rockets, leveling out the impact speed until it touched the rocky surface like a feather. Without a second to analyze its surroundings, Apollo gives birth to the fetuses. They are immediately able to walk, and Apollo finds that they are able to breathe easily in their new surroundings. With its energy depleted and its objective achieved, the Apollo Genesis dies. The new generation of human beings, merely toddlers, begin their journey of exploring their new landscape.
