The Dream Of A Ridiculous Man

BIOGRAPHY

Nourished on old folk songs, Appalachian Karma is the solo project of the french songwriter Pierre Souq (aka William Craw).​

Known as a singer guitarist and banjo player in Paris, he follows in American Primitivism footsteps to compose folk songs and murder ballads, evoking the american spirits he does love (ghosts, poets, animals, indians, slaves, cowboys, etc.).

His influences are Skip James, Son House, Leadbelly, Johnny Cash, Townes Van Zandt, John Fahey, Robbie Basho, Nick Drake, Tim Buckley, The Sixteen Horsepower, Woven Hand, Mark Lanegan, Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, etc...

Tied to history and myths, he tells the stories of characters like Anne Bonny, Abraham Lincoln, Jeremiah Johnson, Jim Crow, Saint John Baptist, The Molly Maguires, Mateo Falcone, etc..​

​Also, his songs are torn between anglo-saxon and french litterature. Some texts draw worlds from the Transcendentalist Movement (Emily Dickinson, Ralph Weldo Emerson, Robert Frost, John Muir, Henry David Thoreau, Walt Whitman, etc.), some texts borrow words from Parnassism (Charles Leconte de Lisle, Théodore de Banville, Théophile Gautier, Sully Prudhomme, Stéphane Mallarmé, Paul Verlaine, etc.).​

Third album called "Transcendentalsim" released In november 2012. 
Appalachian Karma is now working on a fourth album and original soundtracks.
