In a similar vein to Pacifica, Over the Mountains transports the listener to a different place and time, somewhere deep under a forest canopy on an unknown path leading to a majestic mountain vista somewhere above the clouds. The only thing keeping you going is knowing that things will only get better, because you never know what's waiting over the next hill. Like an all day adventure through the Canadian Rockies, the album hits many highs and lows, driving forward at a relentless, hypnotic pace that lures you into a timeless sense of space. Once again Segue delivers a collection of long ambient-dub tracks that are filled with just the right amount of melody to provoke the mind of a focused listener, or to provide a serene atmosphere to fill any space.

Berlin-based DJ and production duo Tale of Us take a step back from their busy touring and production schedule to compile the latest instalment of Renaissance's 'The Mix Collection' series. 

“We put this mix together in Mexico, looking out at a beautiful sea in a magical spot in the Yucatan, surrounded by friends and label mates as we recovered from an intense new year's and BPM rush. It was the perfect setting to take on something like this, looking back at the year behind us, not concerned so much by genres and boundaries as much as by assembling a musical picture of where we're at, where we've been and most importantly a little bit of where we're going. Each of the two mixes is a journey unto itself but together they can be seen as our musical chiaroscuro, reflecting a bit of the two sides of the way we think both about DJing and producing. It's hard to confine ourselves to just over 2 hours when there is so much music we've fallen in love with but this is the best reflection of this moment in time for us. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have.”

Throughout their first mix the duo move effortlessly between the driving aesthetics of Kollektiv Turmstrasse and anthemic highs of Scuba to more experimental and angular remixes from Baths and Four Tet. The second mix takes a distinctly more mininal approach, with the textures of Daniel Avery, Recondite, Robert Hood and Extrawelt's productions taking the driving seat and remixes from the likes of Donato Dozzy and DJ Koze switching up already excellent originals. Across both mixes Tale of Us have managed to balance the deep, melodic, upbeat and sometimes more challenging elements of electronic music through careful selection and programming to ensure both have the flow and finesse that listeners have come to expect of a Renaissance release.

Tale of Us are certainly no strangers to the decks, between throwing their own 'Just This' secret loft parties in Milan, regular fixtures at renowned clubs such as Berlin's Watergate, Ibiza's DC10 as well as live and DJ sets at festivals such as Sonar and Movement. Alongside this, their productions have caught the attention of Seth Troxler, Shaun Reeves, Ryan Crosson and Lee Curtiss, who released their debut EP on Visionquest in 2011. 

The Mix Collection series saw it's inaugural 1994 release from Sasha & John Digweed, who set a new standard for the DJ compilation format. Since then Renaissance has undergone a musical shift, with recent contributions from M.A.N.D.Y., Gui Boratto and now Tale of Us helping to bring the original spirit of the brand to a new generation of music aficionados.

Tolouse Low Trax delivers the ‘Knights & Wheels Remix’ in his signature style: While a hypnotic vocal loop hooks you up from the very beginning, minimalistic and dreamy synths slowly submerge the listener into a jam of stripped-down Lo-Fi funk.

The ‘Beat Mix’ by Rio de Janeiro’ sound wizard Carrot Green and long time family member of label, speeds up the tempo, and puts together a groove of classic electro boogie vibes with a P- Funky bassline that sounds like a futuristic liaison between Afrika Bambaataa and George Clinton.
