Overcoming and honesty in goodbye
In "Así Fue," Isabel Pantoja addresses the end of a relationship with sincerity and respect, making it clear that she's overcome the past and ready to move on. In the verse "Soy honesta con él y contigo / A él lo quiero y a ti te he olvidado" (I'm honest with him and with you / I love him and I've already forgotten you), the protagonist demonstrates transparency by stating her feelings to both her new partner and her ex, avoiding false hopes and reaffirming her decision. The song, composed by Juan Gabriel, was conceived precisely to portray this delicate moment when it's necessary to end a cycle and embrace a new love without guilt.
The lyrics also reveal empathy and compassion, as in "Perdona, si te hago llorar / Perdona, si te hago sufrir" (Sorry if I make you cry / Sorry if I make you suffer), but reinforce that love is not under her control: "Pero es que no está en mis manos / Me he enamorado" (But it's not in my hands / I fell in love). The painful past is acknowledged in "Tú te fuiste sin decirme nada / Y a pesar, que lloré como nunca" (You left without telling me anything / And even so, I cried like never before), but the protagonist shows that she has managed to rebuild herself and forgive, thanks to her new relationship. "Así Fue" stands out as a song about emotional honesty, overcoming grief, and the importance of living in the present.
