Its been ages since our last podcast for our Appian mix series. In keeping with previous podcasts we have asked our most recent artist - Forest Drive West to concoct something nice for us. For a change we thought we'd put out a Various Artists release from some Artists we really admire - Ireland, UK, Germany, Sweden & Netherlands are all represented here. 

Appian stalwart https://soundcloud.com/o-utlier continues to make mind bending music and provides us with a mesmerizing, cerebral Ambient track (pls play it loud). https://soundcloud.com/bas-dobbelaer steps up with something beautiful, ultra deep and  metronomic. Tarik Hansen are Artists https://soundcloud.com/benkaczor & https://soundcloud.com/martinou3000 who come together for the first time with this dubby, pulsating stomper of a Techno track. Finally we welcome Kloor which is the new moniker of an old hand who finishes off the compilation perfectly with something cosmic & shimmering.

Bas Dobbelaer - Coincidence

Its been a year since the last instalment of our Appian mix series. This time something very special from Bas Dobbelaer based in Amsterdam. Bas has a beautiful ultra deep track called "Coincidence" on our latest and soon to be released VA - Illaunamid EP [APPIAN014]. 

For this stunning mix he has expertly weaved together a group of tracks that we can really identify with here at Appian Sounds.  With subtlety and depth and with Dub at their core they fuse together to form a journey that we hope will last the test of time.

APPIAN MIX 010 - Bas Dobbelaer

Tarik Hensen are Martinou and Ben Kaczor – both talented artists in their own right. The stars aligned and they came together for their first release with their dubbed out track Dimma Lyset on the latest illaunamid EP. 

This Mix was born when the two met up in late Sept/early October in Malmo. What’s presented here is a beautifully crafted and perfectly built mix packed with their own music and music from other artists too.

APPIAN MIX 011 - Tarik Hensen

It's been over a year since our last contribution to the Appian Sounds Artists Mix Series. I suppose this has coincided with a general slowdown in output from the label (this will change shortly with 2 new releases planned).

I am very happy to introduce Kloor who released a lovely track called Snowcone on our last Various Artists release. We didn't mention it then but Kloor is actually a new alias for Aural Imbalance. For those that don't know Aural Imbalance he is an incredibly talented and versatile producer who has been around for 25 years. From ambient through his "Inhmost" moniker to deep melodic techno, progressive and trance as "Deep Space Organisms" to beautiful Drum n Bass as TQ One - Simon Huxtable can do it all. https://soundcloud.com/auralimbalance


On top of his obvious talent as a producer he certainly knows how to put a mix together too - i would highly recommend tracking these down. Here over 2 hours he has selected timeless works of his own from his various aliases and has also handpicked some of his recent favourites from friends and artists he admires - traversing ambient, deep techno and Drum n Bass.

This is a magical 2 hours and as with all our mixes it has been designed for repeated listening. Stick it on enjoy the trip : )
