Live at Suspended Animation in the 7 O'Clock Plaza; Miss AppleCat Returns to Cargo Cult; this years Playa adventure and the closing of a Journey started three years ago. This mix marks the ascension from a dusty child like state to the next evolution of Desert Dwelling Feline.

Watching the red sun rise over the flat lands cradled by the temple, a chrysalis; just as I started my journey in 2011 I ended it as such; welcomed and sent off with the bright red warmth of my father sun against the dark blue skies that house my Mama Moon; together creating promenading water colours and harmonic duality in the dawn; endings and beginnings; circles and 3's.


This mix is dedicated to that same darkness and light; to grime and beauty; to death and rebirth. To rev(a/o)luation; to acceptance, to endurance and to love. 


Big Thanks to Suspended Animation for having me at their camp and doing their best to distract me with their sexiness.

AppleCat @ Burning Man 2013 - Circles and 3's

On the eve of the Samhain full moon we gathered in dawn of the dark for ritual. To work through aspects of our grief, to cultivate our belonging, and to dance through it all. Samhain is a time for remembrance, letting go, and honouring of the dead. It is the dying of our year, and the start of our winter.

May it be so that this mix catalyzes your own journey. It is my way of storytelling through sound, my guidance through a personal underworld and then back again. It is my hope that, especially in these thinly veiled days, you feel this music in your very bones, and that the dance takes hold in all the ways you needing it to. Plus I hope you get a good ass shaking in if you're so inclined 😉

Opening up for Dubstep legend, New Zealand's TRUTH, and Vancouver's own Dubconscious in Victoria BC; I realized half way through the set that I was part of the way through recording the next "Stick to your guns". 
A compilation I originally put together after feeling I had strayed too far from where it started for me..... good old 140bmp. My home bass/base.

Number one of which was put together when I felt I had deviated too far from my genre of choice.... that deep sacral dirty cosmic bass that resonates with me so harmoniously. Those sexy beats that give me shivers. Since then I find they just present themselves; and suddenly.... another one appears..... or doesn't.

In her I saw a love I never understood before; a love I gave to others but never turned inward, in her I started to comprehend unconditional self love; one that would turn me inside out and propel it outwards in a way I could have never fathomed before.
Now daylight I quickly and with spiritual affluence found my camp and slept soundly. Even in slumber my eyes had never been so open.
All this of which I had been holding on to; had been hurting me, it now had started to burn away.
I felt lighter."

Tiny footsteps, a solemn whisper of faith to come; a "with" without a wavered breathe, a breathe matched with each beat; a beat that ceases to halt in contempt of all logic and

There is magic here, just look down; see the callused and bloodied soles leaving ephemeral indentation in their wake,

Dear ones, coming upon our 9th sold out Erotica Electronica show I can't help but be chuffed. 
You exquisite opulent souls, it was 4 years ago that I had a little dream to bring together the scenes....... Underground Music, Burners, and Kinksters- to abolish useless segregation and intimidation. I dreamt of not only helping introduce these scenes together, but showing them how much more magnificent they would be in union. 
And here we are at #9; with the help of my amazing Co-Producers we have made this event a smash in both Vancouver BC and Victoria BC.

Its been a spell has it not? 

I figured its about damn time I released another Stick to Your Guns. Time is a slippery fish, and before you know it a couple years has passed since you did the thing. 

A slippery fish indeed. 

So here we have Stick to Your Guns 11, a live recording from the open ended event "White Rabbit" in Victoria BC.

STYG is all about roots for me. Its how it started and its how it will continue on. So where are my roots as AppleCat? What aspects have stayed with me despite interchanging styles? What gives me that unique tingle when I hear it?

Multi cultural sounds, deep fairytale bass, erotic undertones, Classical/Cinematic beauty, magicks, - and motherfucking cosmic carnal dubstep. My intention is to create and share a mystical and primal underworld dance - then, to have us all come out the other side moved in some way - the kind of movement that is far beyond solely somatic. As such every so often,  I craft a "Stick to your Guns" to remind myself -and anchor me- where I know my creative alignments are strongest.

It was an delight to throw down at the first of many (fingers crossed) Nectar Festival on their Friday Night. 

Here were have the next in my "Stick to Your Guns' series. It has been a while since I posted, but I found this set to fit the STYG perfectly.

"Stick to your Guns" started back in 2013 (I think?) when I had become so interwoven with genres and scenes that I was having a little bit of a musical existential crisis - what the hell WAS my sound? I loved so many genres but what was my primary focus? I was a little lost in the melange of auditory options.
So I sat down and pondered
where are your roots as AppleCat? What aspects have stayed with you despite interchanging styles? What gives you that unique tingle when you hear it?
Multi cultural sounds, Story telling, erotic undertones, Classical/Melodic beauty - deep mother fucking grimy dubstep - anything along the lines of 70bmp to 80 really. Bass lots of bass, intentional mystical deep dance - the kind that moves you in way more ways than somatic.
As such every so often, maybe once every 6-8 months I craft a "Stick to your Guns" to remind myself -and anchor me- where I know my alignments are strongest.
So it goes, enjoy.

Where are my roots as AppleCat? What aspects have stayed with me despite interchanging styles? What gives me that unique tingle when I hear it?
Multi cultural sounds, Story telling, erotic undertones, Classical/Melodic beauty - deep motherfucking carnal dubstep -  Bass lots of bass, intentional mystical deep dance - the kind that moves you in way more ways than somatic.
As such every so often, maybe once every 8-12 months I craft a "Stick to your Guns" to remind myself -and anchor me- where I know my alignments are strongest.

Stick to your guns 7 came to me this past weekend while I invoked the trickster side of AppleCat. We amidst the forest, along side beautiful creatures and the cavorting unseen, I barefoot and wild dedicated my sound to the union of worlds, darkness meeting the light, and the safe expression of our fullest selves. Deep Bass catching itself into the vibrating web our bodies collectively crafted, sent down through-out our feet, stomping out our shame, kicking up dust and releasing inhibition. Eros and Sound delicately flowing through our field of magics.

Why aren't there more Women Producer/DJs you ask? Silly question, there are TONS of us - you just need to look, listen, pay attention, and allow space for the feminine to do what she is meant to do. Create, dance, muse, BECOME.

To celebrate the holidays and the beginning of our Amplify Her Purple Carpet tour I've crafted a story woven together with songs written/produced/co-produced/remixed by female identified/bodied peoples. Featuring songs from the main characters of the film as well as many other talented ladies. I hope you guys like it, I put a lot of heart soul and mother fucking pussy into this piece. 

What is Amplify Her? Oh just a little movement we started 5 years ago - A full length Documentary film, a Graphic Novel, an animation and a god damn revolution. Amplify Her is a film, graphic novel and animated motion comic series that explores the rise of female artists in the electronic music scene.

Imagined and brought to life by more than 21 female creators The Film follows AppleCat, Clozee, Blondtron, Lux Moderna, WALA, A hundred drums, and Kytami as they find their unique voices within a male-dominated electronic music realm.

On the surface, it’s a story about women in the electronic music industry, but the film’s deeper message is the resurgence of “the feminine” in Western culture.

AppleCat Live At Clozee In Vancouver BC

Last weekend at the intimate and beautiful Abundance Music Festival I crafted a set in service to, and in honour of bringing forth water. Both a call out to the rains in these times of fire and drought, but also a larger prayer for the health of water as a whole. A prayer that all beings may have access to clean water, that the rains come as they should, that we respect and flow with the fires and waters all around us, and within us. As above so bellow. 

I crafted this inspired by the sounds of water, deep bass, shared dance space, and the potency of the august full moon. 

Indigenous cultures all over the world have always known that the potency of collective dance is one of deep power. That individually our prayers are significant, but together as a community our morphogenetic field of invocation is one of fierce magnitude. So I crafted this set to be played on one of the years most robust full moons, and I asked the beloved dancers to send prayers into their dance. To pray for the rains to come, to pray for the sacred waters all across the West Coast, and beyond. 

And now as a further ask of you all, I ask you to keep praying for the water. To listen to this mix, and dance - knowing full well that many have danced to it before, and many will still, holding similar prayers as yours. For the respect, health, and abundance (as needed) of the sacred waters. Not just for Human Beings, but for all life. 

Mni Wiconi (mini we-cho-nee) means "water is life" in the Lakota language. The literal translation being “it gives me life.” Water, mni, is every beings first medicine. Know water, know life. No water, no life. Thank you deeply to the Lakota first peoples for these words, and the reminder of this understanding.  

Water is sacred, water is love, water is life. Life is love. Now may we dance our way into a better world.

The healing of water and the healing of love equally demand that existing societal systems be turned upside down. It has been forever and a day (or at least a fair while) since I posted an Erotica Electronica set. This one in particular is very dear to my heart. 

Erotica Electronica: Victoria XXI - somehow our little collective keeps getting more and more dynamic. These sounds are inspired by wild togetherness, dream weaving, radical inclusively, courageous expression, re-remembering, and raw fucking magical eros.

This is a recording of my live set from the first of my  "the wolves den" event series. The Wolves Den is a night of live and electronic fusion. Bridging the gap between the electronic music scene, and the live music scene, and bearing witness to the delightful fruits that union bares.

This mix probably has more of myself: my vocals, my poetry, and my sounds, in it than any other to date. 

Music transcends the boundaries of language, Dancing is a multi cultural way of expression, and each and every one of us could benefit to learn of howling from the wolves.

AppleCat - The Wolves Den Mix

As a Winter Solstice gift, I crafted a 3-hour gift to you all, on the longest night of the year we all at once embrace our shadow and celebrate the light that is to come. 
When I speak about being a shadow worker alongside, and intermingled with being an artist, I do not mean that I don't embrace light aspects into my life, in fact, I wield darkness to court the light. They are lovers you see, and when we allow their intimacy to bloom inside of us, those fertile grounds are food for the ravenous soul.

Without light, the darkness could not exist, and without darkness, the light would be utterly overwhelming. These two dance across the wild expanse of our psyches, our hearts, our creative flow, our primal play, our eros, our connectivity, and everything else human that means a damn. If we are wise enough to allow them to do so.

Without space held to allow our shadow to fulfill its integral role, it festers into unskilfulness, hurt, and lostness, and in turn, our light turns to self-righteousness, spiritual bypass, and EGO.

The Journey into the darkness is the Hero/Heroines journey. With this mix, I invite you to journey into your deep dark places, and I ask for your trust in taking you there, I invite you to dance with your darkness whilst flirting with your light, as I said these two are not adversaries, they are ancient lovers, and they do so adore to dance. I invite you to leave behind that which doesn't serve you anymore, to dance those old stories deep into the earth. She is well equipped to take them in and to transmute them into something new. I invite your benevolent primal self to romp, play, and prowl, alongside your higher cosmic self.

I invite you to get low, weird, and sacred as fuck with me, to release what needs to be released, retrieve what needs to be retrieved, and come back up again, a wholer, and lighter you than before.

I am unsure how this virus is going to effect my appearances over this next while, as so many have already been postponed. I will do what is best, for my health and for all of yours. Very much including mental health.
