“The more things change the more they stay the same” could be the application security motto for 2017. Last year featured breaches stemming from the same vulnerabilities that have been wreaking havoc for years. But 2017 also brought some reasons to be optimistic about the future of application security. We’ve seen awareness increasing, best practices emerging and many organizations moving the needle in reducing their application layer risk.

AppSec Grows Up

The latest Veracode State of Software Security report reveals that scanning early, often, and steadily helps you fix more flaws faster while not contributing to security debt. The report finds 56 percent of software flaws eventually get fixed. While 76 percent of high severity flaws are addressed by developers, half of the applications showed a net reduction in flaws over the sample time frame.
